I see Tunsil, Bosa, Ramsey, Wentz and Myles Jack going off the board as the first five(not neccesarily in that order).

For me that leaves the following as our best options....

Mackenzie Alexander , Noah Spence , Jaylon Smith and A'shawn Robinson.

If you feel good about his surgery prognosis....Smith is a no brainer here.

Hargreaves is not big enough or physical enough....not worth #8.

Stanley lacks physicality as well....too soft.

I think one of those 4 will be the pick.

I like the other three possibilities, but I'd have a hard time getting excited about Noah Spence after all the problems we have had with Dion Jordan. Of course that's what the next two months of extreme scrutiny are for. I was hoping that Jaylon Smith's injury would send him plummeting towards the back of the first round where we might be able to trade back up into the back of the round and scoop him up, but things don't look to be projecting that way. Ten years ago he probably drops, but we saw last year with Gurley that that's just not the case with an eminently talented player anymore. If Stanley is a question mark, I agree that you skip on him. I would only look o-line with the first pick is if you are getting an elite talent at tackle.

The word is Spence has been tested regularly at EKU since arriving and has been clean....he is the best pass rusher in this draft.

I see Noah Spence as more of a 3-4 OLB...not sure he has a fit in the 4-3. I'm sure we'll see what kind of linebacking ability he has at the combine where he'll probably go through linebacker drills.

I also don't think A'Shawn Robinson will be the target. We invested $114 million in Suh and a 2nd round pick in Phillips last year...drafting another DT in the 1st, at #8 overall, would be foolish and irresponsible when you have holes at linebacker and CB.

I don't see Jaylon Smith coming off the board in the first 15 picks. Willis McGahee has a horrendous knee injury in the championship game years ago and went 21st in the draft. Smith had a similar knee injury in his bowl game and his whole game is based on his athleticism. I don't see the instincts everyone keeps saying he has so if he loses any of that athleticism he's not going to be the player he was or could have been IMO. Very high risk move. I don't think we can afford to miss on another 1st rounder since we're still feeling the sting of Dion Jordan and that complete failure.

why would jax take myles jack at 5 when they already have an outstanding top flight most ascending olb in the game in telvin smith? unless they are gonna miscast jack at mike...smith is the best player on that Jacksonville team

doesn't make sense to me but neither does tunsil over bosa to Tennessee when they already have a damn good young left tackle in taylor lewan...

I didn't say in that order...I said these 5 go off first.

Jack can play anywhere...including runningback.

Lewan has disapointed and Mariota got punished.

Tunsil to Tenn......Wentz to Cleveland.....Ramsey to San Diego....Bosa to Dallas....Jack to Jax.

Spence has great pass rushing ability and will shoot up the boards if teams get comfortable he has grown up.

Alexander didn't give up a touchdown in his last 15 games.

Robinson would give us a dominant middle to our D-line and will rise as well.

If Jaylon Smith is viewed as being ready for the season....he won't slip out of the top ten.

you will miscast jack at mike just like you will miscast jaylon smith there also...or strong for that matter

spence I haven't looked to even see what his best scheme fit is let alone the off the field stuff but until we see how free agency goes at de with our own in house options I'm not placing much stock in it...

alexander with joseph the new dc maybe it does go that route...you better hope like hell his ball awareness was more about lack of attempts his way than lack of it in his tool box cause if that's the case you could end up with a jamar taylor like player with a top 10 pick...there sure isn't a whole lot of route recognition and ball awareness on college tape evidence

if this team takes a 2 down plugger dt with a top 10 pick they should draw and quarter tannebaum immediately...for what? to wait around 2 years while it develops

Jaylon is definitely miscast at mike. Jack, I'm not so sure. Maybe 3-4 mlb would be better than 4-3 but he can play inside imo and you can still have him drop into coverage if you scheme for it properly.

well Miamis sticking with a 43 per joseph so that's all I care about until that changes in terms of player fits

If Miami is going to take a DT with the #8 pick, I'd rather it be the best 3 tech in the draft class in Sheldon Rankins. Denver played both DTs as 3 techs versus the Pats and it gave them fits. If they go DT with that pick, that's the same route I'd like to see them take. Miles Jack already running (he looks good in the videos I've seen) means he's going to be gone before #8. Smith isn't what Miami is looking for in a mike, imo. I wish Spence was more of a DE. If he was I would be fine with that pick. At this point I'd be happy with either of the CBs or a pass rusher. Ragland at 8 wouldn't be my favorite pick ever, but it wouldn't make me extremely mad either.

Given how this draft stacks up, I wouldn't be disappointed with a trade back into the early teens either.

I love Jaylon at Mike in the 4-3. While WOLB would be his best fit right out the draft, in 2 years when he grows into his body I believe he is the perfect Mike in the NFL of today.

The guys TFL production definitely wasn't there for someone with his athleticism, but I don't believe that's due to lack of instinct. When I watch the tape he seems to have instinct in the fact he gets his body going to the right spot, he seems more so that he lacks aggressiveness. I see a lot of him getting into the running lane and then letting the RB come to him instead of meeting him at or behind the line when he clearly could. Kid uses his hands very well and his arm length appears to be excellent for keeping the OL off of him. Definitely needs to add strength for taking on pulling guards and such but this kid is a gym rat and I've been nothing but impressed with his interviews and demeanor.

I think more importantly is how well Jaylon will fit in the Nickel, he has the athleticism to match up with a Gronk in the slot but also has the length and size that I believe is going to hurt Jack in coverage.

I'll take Smith or Jack @ 8 though. Both are huge upgrades to the garbage we put on the field at LB. I'm standing by LB as our most pressing need. Starving for a star and leader in that group.
