Top 5 players who could be traded

Manny will be a Met!

Ok give the Sox- David Wright, Jose Reyes, Lastings Milledge, and Yushiro Petit. If you won't do that then the Sox are crazy to trade Manny. I'm sorry but giving the Sox Carlos Beltran or Mike Cameron isn't good enough.

This is where Boston is screwed. They have no leverage with Manny. He doesn't like Boston. The Red Sox are tired with his games. They have to move him. Everyone knows it. The Red Sox won't get fair market value for him probably in my opinion.

If they could do Soriano for Manny straight up......that would be their best option. Fix their 2nd base problem.

Soriano would be a great option to hit 3rd ahead of Ortiz.

David Wright has a bright future so if they could get him, Mike Cameron, & a pitcher they should jump on it. Cameron would give them protection if Damon flees for the Yanks or Cubs.

The Sox have a good 2nd baseman in the minors who will probably be up in Fenway in the middle of the year. I don't want Soriano on the Sox. I know he's a GREAT hitter but I'd rather just keep Manny instead. Plus Soriano at 2nd base would be a scary site especially playing his home games in Fenway where the field is less then perfect.

You guys and your minor league players.

MANNY DOESN'T WANT TO BE THERE! THEY DON'T WANT MANNY! Once you come to deal with that, then you will understand he must be moved.

I don't know where you were in late July for a week Manny and his Boston history came out as page 1 front page news for a week, but the franchise is sick of him. And he hates the city and rabid fans who make his life hell outside the ballpark. He won't be there next year. So this, let's just keep Manny isn't even an option anymore

We have a good system and a bunch of very highly ranked players for the first time before 1975. I'm sure if you were on the internet in 94/95 you'd be saying the same thing about the Yankees with Jeter, Rivera, Mendoza, Pettite etc on the horizon (and no I'm not comparing the Sox minor leaguers to the Yankee players)

Manny doesn't want to be here? Manny says 13 million times through out the season. Manny said he didn't want to be in Boston and then a week later said he loved it here and didn't want to play anywhere else because the fans just love him and he loves them. I don't take ANYTHING Manny says seriously. I don't even think Manny knows what he wants.

Yes there are a few members of the Front Office who don't like Manny and his attitude but utlimately since he's a 10/5 guy he controls his own fate. If he really wants out then he'll go.

No team wins a world series with minor league players. You can brag about your minor league players, but they won't be factors for 3-5 years. You wanna wait that long?

No kidding no team wins a World Series with minor league players. But we have guys that will fill in when other players retire/leave the team. The players I'm talking about are 2 years away maximum. For example:

Jon Papelbon is up already
Craig Hansen up already
Dustin Pedroia up start of 2006 season/middle
John Lester (lefty starter) is projected to be up by August 2006
Hanley Ramirez up by middle 2006 or start of 2007
Anibal Sanchez up by 2007

(Note these are all guys highly reguarded by writers and scouts, they could turn into crap in the major league if they make it but there's a lot of reasons to like these kids. I've seen many of them play and they're pretty good).

The Sox don't need to trade Manny. He performs well happy or not, the Sox win with him, theres no reason to dump him for a couple of minor leaguers and a decent player or pitcher. Hes one of the best hitters of this generation without question, you dont trade him because he gets upset for a week. Manny is Manny, Manny will always be Manny. The only reason to trade Manny is because he will probaly leave as a free agent when that time comes, in the meantime hes just too good to dump. Someone is going to have to pony up to get him, the Sox GM isnt stupid.

This MANNY WILL BE MANNY thing gets old. Doesn't run out ground balls. Takes days off. Always a distraction. I think Boston has had enough.

In fact I would bet he isn't back next year. Anyone want to take that bet? Name the price. We send the money to AJ or MUCK to hold they can then send it to the winner.

Cmon, pro sports are full of primadonnas that take plays off, ask for days off, get benefits other players don't. Manny isnt so different from a lot of guys. I dont see him having any trouble with the other players, hes a popular guy. He puts up period, hes one of the best in the game theres no question about it, a ton of teams would love to have him warts and all. The only thing that holds back teams from trading a lot for him is that he makes a zillion dollars, he does put up on the field.

Time to lay off the sauce, Ray. :drinker:

I think the Rangers would giggle and hang up at that offer. Never mind the fact that they're already stacked in the OF; they dealt A-Rod, the best player in baseball, because they didn't want to pay him $25 million a year. It seems highly unlikely that they'll take on a guy with Manny's shortcomings at $20 million a year.

If Manny's traded, it'll be to the Mets. For what, I'm not sure. Probably Cameron and a top prospect, be it Milledge or Petit. The Mets aren't ready to give up on Beltran, and Ramirez's advancing age, defensive problems (playing off The Monster hides a lot) and general wackiness...and oh yeah, $60 million over the next 3 years, make it hard for me to believe they'll get much more than that.
