Just some idle musings on the Fins 2010 draft. I'm going a lot by need- I think that it's time to plug the holes, and I wouldn't mind reaching a little to do it. This team has talent, needs more talent, and the holes in the roster are killing us.

Round one- Arrellious Benn, WR Illinois

Total package. Athletically he's a stud, bottom line. Has the size, strength, speed, acceleration out of breaks. And that last one is huge in my book, especially since we lack that big time. I'm ok with his hands, but I'll admit there are questions.

Round two- Dan Williams, DT Tennessee

Wide body who will disrupt and demand double coverage freeing up the ILBs- what a NT is supposed to do. Hard worker, relentless, pretty good wheels and lateral movement. If this is slightly reaching I don't care, we need a guy like this. I still have to wonder- if a Golden Tate is available here, what do you do?

Round three- Sean Lee, ILB, Penn State

Smart, athletic, can find the hole, stuff the hole, cover well. We need an intinctive ILB- I'm tired of watching Crowder and Ayodele not getting it done. They are average- we need a talented play maker in there at ILB. Can play OLB, too. One big caveat is his injury history- that might make him a no go for Ireland and Parcells out of the gate. If this guy could overcome injuries like Paul Pozlunsky and play like him, that could be huge for us. I like this guy.

Round four- Dennis Pitta, TE, BYU

Pass catching TE threat. Who knows, maybe Fasano gets back to his A game, maybe Nalbone steps up next year, maybe we re sign David Martin. But we could use a TE to stretch the middle of the field, in the base offense and wildcat- I'm tired of this 9 in the box crap. Maybe we look at Aaron Hernandez here. Maybe another NT like Boo Williams or Demarcus Granger. Paul Soliaia can either be counted on or he cannot, it's time for him to figure that out. If not, maybe it's time for a NT double dip. The position is just too important to not be solid there.

i like your first 2 picks...benn has the size and upside this wr core sorely lacks...ted ginn has got to go

if somehow some way golden tate was on the board in the 2nd i'd double dip wr...heck i may trade up to get him and remake this wr core completely

if not i like dan williams as a nose a lot...and that's the round value i have him...

in the 3rd i like micah johnson more than the penn st backer...channing crowder is terrible

in the 4th i like hernandez if he was there...a te to stretch the middle of the field...something haynos or sperry do not provide

i also like cam thomas of unc...they spell him a lot cause they have such good depth but he creates push and would be a plugger if we didn't have a nose by the 5th round or so...and ireland spoke highly of him to me...for what that's worth

I like the Benn pick....I think the Cincy game Saturday was one of his best in terms of showing how good his hands can be when he uses them consistently....as long as he isn't trying to body catch....I don't think hands are going to be an issue...his stock is moving upwards with me...

Really like the Dan Williams pick....I've liked this guy's potential going back to last season....I brought him up as a guy that was going to be mentioned as 1st round material by the time the draft rolls around....he may not quite reach the 1st round...but I think 2nd round is excellent value for Miami....say hello to a durable, experienced, battle tested in the SEC, potential monster on the nose...

I like the Sean Lee pick....I think he's the most athletic ILB in the draft...maybe the fastest too...I think he projects best as WILB...Injury history is a concern but he's stud when healthy...nice upside...Wouldn't mind Micah Johnson here either as hoops mentioned to play inside on the strongside...

Not a Pitta fan...although this is a good spot for him to go in the draft IMO....He'll be old for a rookie....I'm not a fan of these older kids from BYU that have done 2 year Mormon missions and put up gaudy stats against kids much younger than they are....this is the TE version of John Beck...

I would prefer D.J. Williams / Arkansas.......Wesley Saunders / South Carolina here....

Nice job though...

i want jermaine grisham, a tight end would really help this offense and hopefully hartline and turner develop and we trade for anquan boldin, brandon marshall, or someone else.

There was some rumblings that Benns' production drop off this year could cost him come draft day... but what's nice to see and confirm in the Cincy game, was the drop off is due to poor QB play ... Benn would be a nice pick up in round #1 if Miami picks somewhere in 10-15 range... i love the Williams pick, and think he has tremendous quickness for the NT position... he'd be an awesome pick in round #2 ... as for Lee, I'm not sure this regime will look at him due to his injury history... BUT if Micah Johnson was to somehow fall to round #3, I'm hopeful Miami will JUMP all over him ... i like Tony MaCoy the TE out of USC in round #4 ... he is the best all around TE in the draft IMO ...

micah johnson is gonna go round 2 or very early 3

I've advocated this for quite some time now, but I might repeat: this year's 1st rounder should be Terrence Cody. Two reasons: (#1) the nose tackle position is the key to every 3-4 defense, and Soliai is not the guy to build a defense around (while Cody clearly is), and (#2) there are other ways to address the Dolphins' other needs (at LB and WR), which would be free agency: guys like D'Qwell Jackson, DeMeco Ryans, Anquan Boldin etc. are available this year, plus there will be a heckuva WR class next year (AJ Green, Julio Jones, Michael Floyd, Deandre Brown, Terrance Tolliver), but true NTs are scarce.

My other picks would be:
2nd rd: Jermaine Gresham
3rd rd: Anthony Dixon
4th rd: Myron Rolle
5th rd: Freddie Barnes
