1. I know it's hard to be sure, but the smart money says Brees stays in SD. I'd give anyone here 5:1 on that. You just do not get rid of a young, proven QB who has been playing exceptionally well for 1.5 seasons in favor of an unproven rookie. The ONLY factor leaning in Rivers favor is his contract, but we're talking like 2 extra years. Yeah, Brees is going to cost a lot, but YOU DO NOT LET GO OF FRANCHISE QBs. EVER.
2. CBs are like QBs. They don't get away without a trade. I can't think of a single great CB (who was playing great when let go... not like Vincent who actually improved in Philly) who has been allowed to walk. Nate Clements is a gamer, no doubt about it. The Bills will CERTAINLY keep him or at least franchise and trade. I will give 5:1 on that too.
3. Peterson is a tough one. This is a Niners team that needs to rebuild, and he's in the 6th season. I really think with the lack of talent they have that they are a 4 year project. It's going to be a WHILE before they are competitive. Does Peterson fit into those plans? He's a versatile player and a lunchpail guy, but he'll be on his 10th season before they make really significant strides (in my opinion. They have a rookie QB who is going to take AT LEAST two years to pick it up... they have a terrible RB situation, one underrated but underperforming WR, an old DL, a young and bad secondary [minus Plummer] and a poor offensive line...). I'd give Peterson 50/50 on being let go, and then, given release, a 30% chance he comes here (which is pretty high, given the number of teams who will be interested... it's the Saban connection).
3. Rarely are good tackles let go, but guards are "made." You can pretty much be 320lbs, write into MTV and get a coach to "make" you into a starting guard in the NFL. Ok, maybe not, but whatevs, Hutchinson stays. Seattle snagged Walter Jones last season, and can now keep Alexander and Hutchinson. You put those three together, you run the ball. It's a core unit that is similar to what I'd like to happen here.
