JAMAL SIGNS WITH BROWNS
John Clayton of ESPN.com reports that the Cleveland Browns have reached an agreement with running back Jamal Lewis.
Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
Lewis was offered only a one-year deal by the Ravens, who have since turned their attention to swinging a trade for Willis McGahee.
In 2003, Lewis rushed for 500 yards in two games against the Browns.

Seems like Cleveland has taken themselves out of the running for Peterson and in the QB sweepstakes. I have to believe the Browns are now targeting JaMarcus Russell if he were to fall and Brady Quinn which will likely be there for them at 3.

Can't say as I'm happy to read that. Whether or not we went with Quinn at #9, I still wanted him to be there (if possible) so we'd have both the choice of taking him or the choice of listening to offers for our spot.

Actually, I feel better that Quinn is seeming more and more to be gone by the 2nd or 3rd pick. That way we wont be worried about being tempted of drafting him.

If MIA is serious about making a championship run in 2007, then we need to make sure we fill our immediate needs at OL or NT at #9.

Branch, Brown, or Landry should be our only options at #9. And with MIA's interest in Green and extending Lemon's contract...this should be an indication that Quinn isnt even being thought of by Mueller and Cameron.

Actually, that's something I'm afraid of.

If Cam and Randy decide that they *must* take a QB in the top ten... and the board flips back to a QB going #1 and #2 overall... depending on how they feel about the QB position we might go climbing the ladder to get one of them--and give up a bunch of picks in the process. I'd rather a QB fell to us and then our FO can do whatever they think is best... take him at #9 straight up, take a different position, or trade the pick for a nice package to someone else desperate for a QB.

I agree %100000000. I would add Okoye to that list of players you have.

I actually think this is good for us. There is a possibility the Browns draft defense or Calvin Johnson at #3. If they do, Peterson should fall to the Texans at #8. I think they'd be more inclined to take him than Quinn.

Or Gaines Adams. But I doubt he is there. Unfortunately, Miami is not really in the mix anymore as far as someone trading up. I think when Capers mentioned Amobi Okoye in his PC, he was MAYBE trying to slip in a little pill to any team thinking about to possibly slide up. Okoye is probably the only player who will be around at 9 for which another team may be willing trade up. But hey, who knows? Maybe Miami gets Okoye....

I didnt think one minute that Quin was going to fall past the top five. Its going to come down to these players; Anderson, Branch, Brown, Okoye and Adams. The two second rounders will likely go towards the offense something like jason hill or Eric Wright and Ugoh or Staley.

Ahman Green all but took Peterson out of the HOU possibilities.

Gaines Adams is definitely going to be a REDSKIN in 2007.

I thought I had Okoye on my list of a possible four players at #9: Branch, Okoye, Landry, or Brown.

MIA is not targeting Quinn in this draft. The Green interest and Lemon deal discussions all but REVEAL this TRUTH.

I dont get the blindness and short-sightedness of some on this forum, but oh well...

I'm not buying that. Recent history has shown it easier to be successful with two very good backs to share the load. Plus, Ahman Green has been injured off and on recently, and isn't exactly young(especially for a RB). Should Peterson slide to #8, the Texans have to consider him(just like the Browns still should). If Peterson makes it to 9, I would expect to get interest from GB at #16(or is it 17?), and possibly even Buffalo at #13, though they might just be fine with drafting Lynch if they like him, as he is better at receiving.

LEWIS SIGNING DOESN'T RULE OUT PETERSON PICK
Scout.com reports that the deal between the Browns and running back Jamal Lewis is a one-year deal only.
Recently, it was reported that Lewis did not want to sign a one-year deal.
The practical effect? The addition of Lewis doesn't mean that the Browns won't draft running back Adrian Peterson with the No. 3 overall pick. Lewis can be the starter while Peterson spends his rookie year learning the ropes. Then, in 2008 or 2009, Peterson can take over the running game.
Also, the fact that Lewis accepted a one-year contract in Cleveland could mean that the Ravens yanked their offer after they turned their focus to Willis McGahee."

MIA will not target an OT in the 2nd round. You can take that to the bank.

MIA has four legitimate OT's on the roster: Shelton, Carey, Alabi, and Toledo. What we need is G/C's. Interior linemen.

As I have said, MIA's interest in Dielman, Steinbach, and Carlisle....the releases of "all" G/C's....and the non interest in the available OT's on the FA market...Cameron's comments about building from the "inside" out....and the reports of Shelton moving back to LT and Alabi being a "rising" star....all but ensure that MIA seeks to upgrade the "interior" part of the OL.

MIA cut our G/C's James, Mckinney, and Anderson....and expressed interest in Dielman, Steinbach, and Carlisle...because they want to fix the G/C positions of the OL.

Notice that MIA has not re-signed Traylor and traded Wilkinson. It's pretty obvious. Alan Branch or Amobi Okoye will be drafted at #9 by the Dolphins.

With two 2nd round picks. Kalil, Sears, Grubbs, or Blalock will be the G/C's that we will select at #40 and #60 in the 2nd round.

C'mon, guys. Think.

They have two. As a matter of fact, they have three. Green, Davis/Williams, and Morency.

HOU is not targeting Peterson.

I agree 100%. Lewis' deal is for only 1 year! Peterson will be a Brown come opening day of the 2007 season. Take that to the bank.

I didn't say they were targeting him, I said they'd have to consider him if he fell that far.
