Mitch Mustain of Springdale, Ark., the No. 1 ranked quarterback by Scout.com, has decided to re-open his recruitment, several sources have indicated to both HawgsIllustrated.com and The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas.


Mustain, who committed to Arkansas along with Springdale wideout Andrew Norman back on August 15, has told Razorbacks head coach Houston Nutt of his decision, according to the sources.



"I can't comment on that right now," said Beck Campbell, Mustain's mom, when contacted at her home. "(Springdale) Coach (Gus) Malzahn and Mitch will have to comment on that."

It appears that Mustain now will consider Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida and Notre Dame  in addition to Arkansas. Mustain has not ruled out playing for the Razorbacks, sources said, but wants to explore his options.

Springdale coach Gus Malzahn had been expected to be added to the Arkansas staff, but that move apparently remains in a holding pattern. Mustain threw for more than 3,800 yards, 47 touchdowns and only six interceptions this season.

I know him too (not well). He sucked his senior year.

Ughh not really man...he actually had his best season this past year the main reasons scouts took a good look at him. I've met him a couple times one of my friends is real good friends with him so thats how i met him...I played a game of football with him down by the school near here before the guys got a cannon for an arm...but i can be glad to say i picked him off once :D

Im looking forward to Frazer at ND, we got Demetrius Jones to committ too so we should have some good young QBs coming up behind Quinn when he leaves next year ;)
 
Just saw this on another board, it's from Rivals.com, I think having 2 qbs already committed might keep him from wanting to come to ND, but guess we'll find out soon.

Mitch Mustain is looking away from Arkansas, but has not gone on record as saying he has de-committed.
Mustain, the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder who led Springdale to a state title this season, chose Arkansas over Texas, Note Dame and many others late in the summer.





So now that he's looking around, who will he look at? Many expect Notre Dame to be a top choice, but the Irish have Demetrius Jones and Zach Frazer already in the fold and an eye on Jimmy Clausen for next season. But the Irish were apparently the runner-up for his services in the summer and it has to be tempting for Charlie Weis to jump back into this fray
 
If Mustain wants to play he better go to South Carolina. If he goes to Notre Dame he's behind Zach Frazor & Demetrius Jones, Urban Meyer is in love with Josh Portis who he got to decommit from Utah & follow him to Florida, & Tennessee has both Erik Ainge & Jonathan Crompton.

Hmmm... Tebow would probably be a better fit in Florida since he can run. Florida is also after Brent Schaeffer.

i don't know he could be a good fit at bama with his legs because bama's offensive liine looked horrible their last two games and he'll probably have to use them

Yeah, I was trying to say I'd probably rather have Tebow than Mustain. Sounds like he's a pocket passer like Leak.
