Top Ten FA OG's

I'm thinking that Allen, Harris and Brooks are the best available options.

Another view from Walter. Don't think we have a VG chance at KO who will get $8M or more because of his play at OT. Who are your top choices other than KO?

It would nice to pair a veteran guard like Evans on a short term deal with a Brooks or an Allen on a longer term deal, solidify the O-line and let Douglas and Turner develop. Cut Dallas Thomas now so there's never a temptation to ever use him in a game again.

I remember the days when FA guards like Kevin Donnelly and Jamie Nails were used to make the OL functional and strong. I just don't see the logic in playing Turner and Cody Whitehair or another high round guard. It hasn't worked because it takes too long for college prospects to get up to speed. We need veterans who are ready to play now

I am hoping our new coaching staff already knows this.

One of the young guys on a long term deal is a top priority. A vet like Evans could come later after coaches evaluate the young guys.

Saw the comment on Reid and Allen. Reid did not play Allen and questioned his ability to play in the NFL, which KC fans could not believe. Allen come on to play very well. Sounds like a dog house deal.

Past KO, there are not great guards but goods ones who will be a big upgrade and not overly pricey. I'm guessing around 5 year at $5M average.

Jeff Allen should be at the top of our free agent list along with Danny Trevathan.

Jeff Allen and Mike Harris intrigue me because they're both young and took advantage of their opportunities to start full time. I would look to sign both over risking a pick in the draft. Harris has played some tackle for the Vikes, but didn't breakout until moving to Guard.

Sign Allen and Harris. Keep Douglas and Turner for depth. Cut Thomas.

I had Brooks at the top of my list earlier. The more I learn, he is dropping because of run blocking. I'm pretty sure Gase will be running more than we have and Allen with Harris have moved up my list. Boone is another good option but, from what I see, SF will be keeping him.

Here's where I see this going- I think we lose all 3 key FA's and only Rishard Matthew's position has enough depth and young talent where that spot doesn't become an immediate need in FA or the draft. I think they'll find Matt Hazel can do some good things in 2016 and we'll be fine at WR. DE and RB are another story

To me, guard is the biggest FA priority and Miami is well on its way to creating enough cap room imo to at least get a mid range guard at $5 mil per plus another 1-2 medium priced free agents. It would be great to lock up a 26-27 year old who can already play to a 4-5 year deal.

KO would be great to get but he may limit what else you can do in free agency and as much as I want to draft defense this year I think they need to bring in a young vet at FS (Gipson) LB (Trevethan would be great) and/or DT (like the Pot Roast idea) and corner (Sean Smith or Casey Hayward).

I would priortiize G and CB in free agency and hope you can also get at least a rotational player at DT or LB

Matt Forte would also be great but I have a feeling a team like Pats could outbid us. Forte would be a great vet leader and would take pressure off Tanny and Ajayi. If they don't get him I think Miami could get vet RB later and maybe draft a back late to push Damien Williams.

It would be nice to come out of the FA and draft period with players to push and supplant Walt Aikens, Koa Misi, Jelani Jenkins and Earl Mitchell, D Thomas and B Turner. Ideally they get to a spot where they can cut players like Thomas and Mitchell who aren't worth their cap hits or roster spots.

Cap space is not an issue. I keep OV and Miller. Matthews is not needed with Parker. I add a good young OG, no way I see getting two other than a vet who falls through the cracks late. I add a VG young CB in place of Grimes. This is all very easily doable in money and "hopefully" multiple options.

I restructure Wake and maybe Cameron or move on. I still have money to go shopping but, am looking for young talented options to build on. Not sure anything more will be available and may have to settle for some band aids.

I think KO should be a day 1 target for us. Need to get more physical inside. Interior of KO-Pouncey-Turner helps us tremendously within the division. Just give KO a 5/45 deal and be done with it. Takes care of your swing duties as well.

Jeff Allen gives me major pause. But a player like him would be ideal. I'm just not sure if his production warrants the deal he's going to land. We know he can run block, but we need the total package. I'd probably prefer Brooks.

In a perfect world I'd just sign Evan Mathis. But believe he is unrealistic after he wouldn't come here last year. Ramon Foster would be my best value if we ran a different system. Extremely underrated. Mike Harris is intriguing too, as is Amini Silatolu. You could also go cheap and add two vets of Jahri Evans, Geoff Schwartz and Manuel Ramirez if we get really desperate. Assume it won't come to that.

KO is the obvious and almost perfect fit first choice but, do not see it happening.

Allen, Harris and Brooks are more likely signings. Not ideal but still a big upgrade. If we strike out there, it will be a band aid. Not bat for this year but, nothing to build on.

Personally I view it as more likely than you do. We have the cap space. Tannenbaum loves to make the splash signing. They have identified guard as our primary need. That seems like the perfect storm to me and I'd expect us to be in the mix. After that I think Harris is a bit of a risk and not a stable enough option. One year of production, 338 coming from a power-scheme. That's too big of a projection for me. Jeff Allen and Brandon Brooks are probably my backup plans. Brooks probably plan B, Allen plan C. There's plenty of solid band-aids that we could take fliers on.
