Sadly our 2013 Dolphins joined an elite group of ten teams(11 total counting Miami) that have taken 58 sacks or more in a single season and they are listed below.......the combined won loss record of the other ten Teams is 61-98-1 for a winning percentage of .383..........Ryan Tannehill managed to go 8-8 for a .500 winning percentage, quite a bit better than average.

1. David Carr (23) 76 2002 HOU
2. Randall Cunningham (23) 72 1986 PHI
3. David Carr (26) 68 2005 HOU
4. Jon Kitna (34) 63 2006 DET
5. Ken O'Brien (25) 62 1985 NYJ
Steve Beuerlein (35) 62 2000 CAR
7. Neil Lomax (26) 61 1985 STL
8. Randall Cunningham (29) 60 1992 PHI
9. Tony Eason (25) 59 1984 NWE
10. Jeff George (30) 58 1997 OAK
Ryan Tannehill (25) 58 2013 MIA

Unfortunately he wasn't sacked at all in the final game and still only manged 7 points against the Jets.

And part of those 8 wins were the fact that the scoring defense was 8th best in the league.

Still quite a feat getting 8 wins when you are on your back most of the time.

Not sure where BlueFin saw it, but I found this:

QUARTERBACK SACKED SEASON TEAM

2. Randall Cunningham 72 1986 Philadelphia Eagles
3. David Carr 68 2005 Houston Texans
4. Jon Kitna 63 2006 Detroit Lions
5. Steve Beuerlein 62 2000 Carolina Panthers
5. Ken O’Brien 62 1985 New York Jets
7. Neil Lomax 61 1985 St. Louis Cardinals
8. Randall Cunningham 60 1992 Philadelphia Eagles
9. Tony Eason 59 1984 New England Patriots

This would put RT tied for 10th.

Not surprised.

Yah but it did not factor in Tannehill's ability to deliver the teams to the POs... Apparently a good QB can rise above... :rolleyes2:

It's amazing how the oline held up the game, and RT couldn't get it done against a sub par defense.... the future indeed.

It still stands...Tannehil won a higher percentage of games than the average of the other ten who suffered that many sacks.

Frankly I'm getting tired of the Tannehill Haters on this board....the people who support him are realistic and realize he is not a finished product but saw progression from year one to year two despite the major O-line problems. We just want to see 2014 with a decent O-line and complement of receivers before we rush to judgement.

The haters continually post garbage and want to blame him for all the woes of this team last year...which is clearly unfair to a sane and rational observer.

Now I wonder what the teams records were for all the guys that had been sacked that much! Pretty sure all the records were just as bad as sacks allowed! Amazing that we had record we did considering! Have to give Tannenhill credit for not folding!

7 out of 10 had worse records than Tannehill's ...in fact 6 out of the 10 had 5 wins or less.

I still feel bad for David Carr. Looking at him does give me a certain level of confidence in T Hill. Seeing him take a licking and keep on ticking last year was amazing. There may be a number of questions about him but none should question his heart or toughness.

Randall Cunningham led the eagles to 11-5 record in 1992 with 60 sacks.

Eagles were sitting at 7-5 and Cunningham willed them to playoffs with 4 straight wins.

They lost in the second round of the playoff to eventual champion Cowboys.

Shouldn't you be paying attention to the teacher instead of on your phone posting on here at 2:30pm.....You're going to end up in detention young man
