Being in Australia it's tough to keep up with the College game. I think after the game today that it's fairly obvious our first round pick will be spent on either of these two positions and that our first pick will be in the top 10. Can anyone give me an idea of the top prospects at these two positions at this early stage? After watching Andre Johnson dominate us last week all i can think about is getting a receiver with his size and speed. Any big, strong receivers comparable to Johnson available in the top 10?

Yes. Micheal Crabtree WR from Texas Tech is 6'3, productive, and very fast.

Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois, is a very athletic CB who could be a top ten pick.

Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State, is probably the best CB prospect in the draft.

I believe you can pencil one of these guys as our pick in the draft right now. Unless we go with Selvie from USF, but ultimately I think our pick will be a CB.

Crabtree is a beast, although he plays in a system perfect for him.

Graham Harrell benefits from that offensive system, it makes his job easier. But Crabtree has to make the same catches every receiver has to make .... his production is obviously high because of the numbers of touches he gets but HE is the one making those plays happen.

with the amount of problems we have in our secondary, i would be shocked if we don't take a corner or a safety...jenkins and davis might be gone, but maybe safety taylor mays (usc) will be there

i don't know about that... the front office will go with the safest pick in the first round just like they did with jake.... remember, last april, we were in need of a LT some Dlinemen and a QB....
what they did was draft the safest guy in the first and rely on good depth in the other classes to fill voids... like henne with the 2B pick or langford with the 3rd pick ...

i agree that CB is the TOP priority... but if they can find a better pick at another position of need, they may look for a corner later in the draft... and i feel this may very well happen and if it does, a lot of people will be mad like in 07 when we drafted ted ginn... im not saying it will happen but there's a chance that it will

i dont think we will take Selvie we have to good Rookie DEs in langford and Merling

I dont see how we dont take a CB in the first.

Well, a lot depends on what we do in FA. I think there is more CB talent in both the FA market and the draft. That means I could see us taking a WR with the 1st pick. Especially if we pick in the 10-15 range where we could take a guy like Jeremy Maclin or Darrius Heyward-Bey.

i agree 100%

selvie would come in at OLB, not DE, he definitely doesn't have the bulk to play 3-4 DE and we don't need one like you just mentionned
that true i didnt think about that but i think we have some good OLBs to with Charlie Anderson, Quentin Moses, Joey Porter, and Matt Roth so i see no need to go out and get a OLB in the first round

for one parcells drafts LB like its nothing. they had ware, drafted carpenter, drafter spencer, etc etc. back to back 1swt orunders and so forth.

Roth isnt a good OLB to pu tpressure so we will go for one to replace JP at one point and one to replace roth ASAP.
