I think what really hurts is that we lost the game with 29 seconds left but that is football.
I criticized Tannehill and applauded him but I think this was one of his best games. The INT was bad but his hussle stopped a pick 6 and set Grimes INT up. He stood tall and if Clay would not have had the drop he could have had another TD. Many places to point the finger at for the loss but I have to go back to the beginning of the game. Once again we did not play 60 minutes. I think our biggest problem is really that we cannot string together two 60-minute games this season.
At the end we could have put more pressure on Stafford rather than only rushing 3 at times. Our last possession I wish we stop this run - run and then hapless pass play trying to pick up the first down. Just do what you did the entire game. But if you look at the game we could have been out of it after the first quarter or when we blocked the FG attempt. It was essentially a 10 point swing our way.
The time out calls were mystifying. I do understand conserving time in case the Lions score a FG but you don't take timeouts on 1st down. Wait with that until 2nd or better 3rd down.
It was really the game we expected where both defenses gave its all and at the end the Lions were just a tad luckier.
While a loss always hurts especially with 29 seconds left we are not out of it. We just have to refocus. Let's forget the AFC crown for now, NE is the big winner today, focus on the wild card race and take it to the Bills on Thursday. Both teams will play for their survival in the wild card race.
