Its hard to accept reality but this dolphins team had a very tough schedule this season and really had no luck what so ever, with key injuries to good players that they couldn't afford to lose in pretty much every game this season and to tell you the truth its amazing that it took the last week of the season to actually be eliminated from playoff contention.

I agree. Contrats to the Fins for a very respectful season... we will be much better in 2010!

The fact we were in the game to the end down to our 4th string Quarterback, 2nd string runningback, 3rd string cornerback, 2nd string ILB, and 2nd string NT says a lot to me..

This team was more 'real' than last years 11-5 'smoke and mirrors' team.

Depth and the emergence of a young dynamic arm in Henne says to me, 2010 will be the return of MIA to the playoffs w/ a real chance at doing something while there.

Of course that depends on some solid drafting and a few key FA's and trades imo.

NT, ILBx2, S, WR, TE are musts this offseason.

Yea the injuries really hurt us in the end. Losing Ronnie, Fergy and Will Allen. But atleast we have seen that Soliai at WORST is a decent backup, Hilliard has a future on this team at RB . . . . and we have 3 solid CB's in Smith, DAvis and Jason Allen.

I feel much better about our team after today's loss then I did after last week's loss. They showed they could bounce back and put everything into this game. If Henne had not got hurt and played the whole game, I think we would have one. The offense was non-existing in the third quarter.

I just hope White is OK. That was horrible to see. :(

i don't think you can be upset with the season we had. We played the toughest schedule in the nfl, lost a lot of key players, and just wouldn't quit throughout the year. It's pretty apparent what are needs are and now we need to go out and improve. We're young and have 9 months to get better for our first game next year. We're going in the right direction.

Don't be fooled by the "we were in until the end and got eliminated from the playoffs in week 17" nonsense.

This year is an anomaly. It's rare that so many 7-9, 8-8 and 9-7 teams have a shot at the playoffs this year.. Remember last season, the Patriots didn't make the playoffs with an 11-5 record.

That's more the norm.

The Dolphins have a lot of holes. it's embarrassing that they only ended up with one more win than the pathetic Bills.

Excuses, Excuses, this team hasn't nearly played together like the team last season(I don't care about the schedule strength)...the turnovers were a huge difference, and if that doesn't get corrected, we WILL have more of the same next season...to lose the last 3 like we did, and the collapses on Defense throughout the year...Screw Sparano and this coaching staff on getting this team prepared to play each week. Right now, very few players and coaches on this team should feel secure with their positions this off-season. Sure they played hard, but overall they're crap in way to many areas still.

If you choose to be satisfied with 7-9, God Bless you, but I think it sucks! Hell even Buffalo finished with 6 wins, and the Browns 5....that's right 5 wins and a WIN against Pittsburgh too!!!!!

Next season is make or break for the Trifecta. If they field a team with this many holes, and miss the playoffs one again; for better or worse..Ross will demand changes for sure.

I agree, for having so many injuries this team showed resilience in staying in the playoff hunt. Plus imo Chad Henne looks like the Qb of the future, with brown hopefully back for the full season a couple of players on D and a #1 WR this team could be very dangerous next year.

I agree with everything you said except about Soilai, He has in my opinion played his butt off these past few weeks even if we did lose the games. I believe he is going to get bigger this off season and better. He's a real good player.

they played hard through a lot of adversity this year and almost made the post season, congrats phins, cant wait for 2010

Great post. It was numbing near the end of the season to grasp what little progress we've made. When we lost at San Diego, Norv Turner greeted Sparano and emphasized what a tough team we have. It was the only thing to hang a hat on, since obviously we don't have special skill talent.

Well, as the season dragged on it was glaring we are not a tough team. Not compared to true reference points like the Steelers. I'm glad we closed with them. No false impressions. That opponent is barrel chested and will smack you. Every athlete looks cut and in great shape. When Pat White got hurt and all the players were huddled alongside, the only Dolphin players who had physiques that looked like they could rightfully wear a Steeler uniform were JT and Ayodele.

The final drive was very appropriate to end the season, allowing a team with a banged up QB to drive from its own 2 to inside our 10, one gash after another on the ground.
