We all have heard about this tough schedule that is going to be our uncrowning this year. Apparently because we succeeded in a soft schedule we do not have the ability to compete in one that appears to strike the fear of god in mere mortals.
Luckily for NE they have a god in Brady and with his return brings home the title we apparently have borrowed and not earned. The soft schedule excuse does not reign in NE because Brady went down with injury and from the ashes arose Cassell who most love to praise as a excellent QB now starting in KC but only a back up in NE. While I will give NE credit for being a strong team every year the dominantion is over. Brady may very well bounce back from his injury but his record years are gone and they too will have to fight for every victory.
Some believe the Buffalo Bills can sneak in the picture with a young offensive line that is doing so well they changed their offense to the no huddle to try and limit the defenses ability to expose the greatest weakness they have; the oline. The same soft schedule kick their rear ends in and this tough schedule will become even more difficult when the Oline can't handle it and Edwards takes another beating. T.O. helps but lets see how he handles losing and playing in Buffalo late November/ December, I have a feeling this one ends up badly once again.
The NYJ's couldn't do anything with their soft schedule and ProBowl QB but now start a rookie QB who has thrown many completions to both teams on the field. Throw in the tough schedule and a Rookie QB trying to bring his team back from behind doesn't bode well for success. Their defense is solid and will keep them in games but this just means we'll be hearing about how they've lost 8 games by fewer then 6 points.
Did we benefit from a soft schedule or did we see an opportunity and just grabbed the bull by the horns. Afterall we only lost two starting guards in week 1, lost our best WR, had a cast off QB learn from a partial camp, had average play from our Center, had a RB coming off a major injury, we had no pass rush outside 1 guy and yet we still won 11 games and the division title. My point being excuses seem to find their way to defend the other teams failures but the soft schedule seems to justify our success.
We now have our starting two guards, a Center thats a nasty prick, a QB that gets a full camp, a stable full of WR's, a RB that's healthy and in a contract year, a pass rush with lots of depth, a stable of young Corners, a proven Superbowl winning FS and a ProBowl LT to boot. What does this have to do with our tough schedule? It means anyone that has us on that schedule is in for a fight because of the opponent THEY face.
The AFC EAST Title is ours and while the media may think they can give away what we earned WE actually will determine the next Champion because the road leads to us and theres only one thing to say come and get it.
