I have been hearing alot of different things about this kid from different sources. Some say he is doing ok for a rookie on a short offseason. Some say they have been disappointed in him so far. But last night he looked pretty good to me. I know its Dallases second team D but he just seemed to see a hole and hit it. Didnt dance or try to bounce everything to the outside. he had 8 carries for 36 yards which is 4.5 yards a carry. Thats not too bad. He also had a catch for about 8 yards. I think if the oline can create a hole for the guy he will be ok. I dont see him breaking any real big runs but i think thats y we have bush. what do you guys think?

Give me your Tots on the subject.

He's still not getting his pad level down consistantly. He had a nice long run of 11 yards then got taken down by a DB one-on-one. That can't happen to a guy that's 6'1" 228 lbs, he's got to lower his shoulder and run that guy over. He has shown good vision and quickness, a good ability to cut but he's got a long way to go when it comes to finishing his runs.

Would love some tots right now TBH

Indeed...those look delicious...

My thoughts on Thomas? He is a raw talent. We knew that when we picked him. He has some tools to be a good back. But it may take a little bit to refine them. I just hope Bush does well or/and stays healthy until then.

I don't think there are many that are down on Thomas. He is still learning and had almost no offseason to get up to speed with the NFL style of play. The issue is the O-line creating holes that are open for approximately .0000000001 seconds (which is part of the reason Sparano is trying to tell Thomas he can't afford to dance out there). If the line can create a hole, Thomas has the ability to go through it and try to bulldoze defenders.

One of the biggest things that coaches and fans have been excited to see is Thomas' pass-catching ability. A two tight end set with Bush and Thomas, where the D doesn't know which of them will go out for a pass and which will block is quite a weapon to have if Daboll can work it in.

he tip toed on one play i saw and went nowhere. He's good when he has a hole to run directly through. If he learns to cut back to the backside of jake and incog, we may see something this year. but i see what they say about the tip toeing.

He looked improved last night, which is what is important to me. He was more aggressive trying to hit the hole and didn't tip toe as much as he had been. Plenty of room for improvement, but he is headed in the right direction now. Had not been seeing a lot of progress b4, but I think we saw it last night. Got to remember too, yeah it was Dallas' 2nd string D, but it was our 2nd string offense too. =)

When compared to other rookie running backs there are 12 rookie running backs with more yards than Thomas.

1)Hunter...231 yards...DRAFT PICK #115
2)Scott......213... draft pick # 221
3)Smith.....192 ...undrafted free agent
4)Helu.......173...draft pick #105
5)Harper....168...draft pick #130
6)Lewis......148...draft pick #149
7)Ridley.....148...draft pick #73
8)Tanner....128...undrafted free agent
9)Rogers....120...draft pick #145
10)Todman.112...draft pick #183
11)Royster...110...draft pick #177
12)THOMAS....109 YARDS...draft pick #62

The 3.5 yard per carry is very troubling
but our offensive line plays a part in his failure or success

As of right now I am not very happy with his production
and the value of the #62 pick plus the other pick we traded to move up
is NOT looking very good

Hopefully the offensive line and Thomas both get things worked out quickly

Best back on that list is Jamie Harper. Where is Ingram? I doubt Saints fans are concerned with this.
