A lot of you know me on here. I'm prone to the occasional outburst. However, I like to think that my outbursts do have merit.
With that said, I would like to see both Chambers and Madison traded after the season. Now before you give me a one sentence witty retort, let me list my reasoning.
Chambers just doesn't have "it". The "it" I speak of is that intangible quality that differentiates a clear # 1 WR from a #2. The I'm going to take over this game mentality. The clear unmitigated focus that he's going to catch anything thrown at him. Whether it's for a much needed 1st down or just a dump off pass. I've been watching him since we drafted him. I just like you, was "wow'ed" during his rookie season. I still remember watching him torch Indy on MNF that year. Since that season he has shown flashes of greatness. But, those very same "flashes" have been book cased in dropped passes and near misses. He's never become the WR that he could be. Most of us can list the reasons off the top of our heads : Lack of strength at QB, Poor offensive schemes, etc. etc. But, as someone once said, "Great WR's make bad QB's look good." He has yet to achieve this. The only consistency I see in Chambers is his lack of consistency and lack of focus. He'll make the ESPN highlight reel catching some wild thrown ball with one hand and then follow that up by missing a catch that hit him in the hands or the #'s.
These problems with Chambers wouldn't be so aggravating if he weren't considered our #1 WR. If he were simply a #3 he'd be great. But, we keep not going after a wowee #1 because we have Chris. This mentality has to stop. We are where we are at this point. But, I wouldn't be half surprised to see Chambers either traded in March or demoted to #3 behind Booker. Obviously, QB is our primary concern but I want to see us go after a Chad Johnson, Braylon Edwards, Moss kind of player. One that will dominate the game. I know that they are hard to come by. But, we need to realize that Chambers is not the guy at the #1 spot. If that ain't clear to Saban he need's to see the Eye Doctor.
I know, I know, We haven't had a qb to take advantage of CC's abilities. That's the most common retort. But, didn't we have Fielder during his breakout year? Wasn't that the same QB for the following 2 or 3 years? A WR's job is to catch tha ball! CC either stops running and let's the ball go over him. OR, he tries this dipsh!t mopve of thrying to jump for it when he obviously needs to keep running full out to where the balls going. Now, I know I'm an out of shape white guy....But, I can't remember the last time I saw anyone jump farther & faster than they could have run.......????
Madison. Oh Sammy Sammy Sammy, how you've fallen. You were fantastic during the JJ era. You were good during Wannstedt, to a point. You suck whale dong so far during the Saban era. You just aren't the corner you were. You got flambayed during the Panthers game. You were iffy during the rest. You need to go while you still have at least a diminished marquee name. No INT's in three years? Is that your Agents fault? No, it's yours Sam. Pat carried you for far to long.
