I think if we lose to San Diego today, Sparano's and Ireland's fate is sealed, although it may not be made official till after the season. We know a new regime will need all the ammunition possible to right this ship. The more draft picks they have the better. I think we need to identify who our young impact players are that need to be kept (Long, Thomas, Pouncey, etc....) and the pieces that may be useful, but could also be a good trade chip at this point of the season that could be used by some other team this season. Hopefully we can stockpile picks to help our cause next year. So who do you think fits that mold? What do you think you can get for them? and who might they be able to help? I'll try one: Vernon Carey. He was a decent RT and Vick needs protection. Anyone think we could get a 5th round pick for him from Philadelphia?

Why would anyone trade a 5th for a fat lazy overpaid waste of a linemen. If you want to consider trades, I woul start with Marshall and see if you can get a second.

Okay, who do you think would be interested in Marshall? Anyone else you think would be valuable to anyone else?

Carey has been worthless too long for any team to believe his poor performance was merely an anomaly. Starks remains a real trading chip however who can command some serious dinero. Merling might have some value as part of a package.

You'll definitely get something for Marshall and also i think you can easily get a 2nd or 3rd for Wake. With marshall however i'm not quite sure about trading him you would think were going to get a top QB in the draft so it would be nice for that QB to have a decent weapon on the outside. However, i get the sense that marshall maybe difficult to work with and that may not be the best fit for a young QB.

Further i think the offensive with a few pieces is set

1) atleast 2 more solid lineman
2) A seam busting TE
3) With thomas seems like we're set at RB

pretty much thats it IMO

Defense is another matter

i am pretty sure they will put everybody on the trade block, but we need to keep a core of players, the thing which core of players

I would start with Marshall just because this team is in a position in which it needs to develop a leadership culture among the players, and Marshall doesn't fit with that.

If you're gonna draft Andrew Luck (or someone similar) and want him to become the leader of your team for the next decade, you don't want Brandon Marshall interfering.

I can get behind the idea of trading Marshall. As talented as he is, I'm scared because he's just on big blowup from being T.O. or one big mistake from a suspension. You have to sell high and I'm scared his value will drop as time progresses. Especially if he cannot get touchdowns in our offense. Would definitely be open to trading Starks or Merling. How young is Wake? What's his salary? Perhaps he is more valuable to keep for these reasons alone. Now who could be desperate for one of these players that might pay or overpay to get them?

Thats the thing...will he interfere?

Wake got a late start..I think he's 28 or 29. I would definitely agree with trading him TODAY! i can realistically see a 3rd for him.

If a new young QB comes in, Marshall as a target is his best confidence-building and productive safety blanket. If that's the route we end up going, IMO he should be a keeper.

People with Borderline Personality Disorder have a way of disrupting the flow of organizations, and trust me, his Borderline Personality Disorder isn't going away.

I'm all for stockpiling picks... problem is, I'm not really interested in anything beyond the 4th round. We need picks of increased value, and while I would agree you can find gems in the 5th-7th rounds, I want to take my chances with what could be considered as more of sure thing, with a pick in the top four rounds.

that being said, I would look to see what we could get for brandon marshall... he's our most dynamic player. I would try to at least recoup a 2nd rounder for him. I'd try for a 2nd and conditional 4th that could turn into a third in 2013 or something. teams that are hurting at WR or have hurt WR's would be tempted, and maybe pull the trigger. teams that think they only need one more piece would be tempted.

cam wake, if we don't trade him this year, we may as well keep him. his trade ceiling was never higher than last offseason. IF he can put up those numbers again, you HAVE to think about trading him asap.

honestly, I don't think we have much trade value after that, if we are keeping with my top four rounds wish list, as I would just soon keep jake long, pouncey, and DT...

maybe one of our DT, could bring a 3rd or 4th rounder, but I have my doubts as we don't seem to get pressure up the middle at all.

I wouldn't trade any young, good players who don't stand to be disruptive of the development of a leadership culture among the players.

Getting the 2nd- or 3rd-round picks you're likely to get for those players isn't worth it. The picks aren't anywhere near as likely to become players as good as the ones you're trading.

In other words, picks are overvalued in comparison to good, non-disruptive players.

if we trade Cam Wake, opposing QBs might as well read the newspaper while they wait to be pressured..
