Until the Dolphins fill the QB position with the next Dan Marino the media and many fans will not be satisfied. Although we have capable QB's currently on the roster many will speculate, hope and want the Dolphins to take a QB high in the draft and discount the fact the QB position is not our greatest need. This ill notion is what we should use to trade down. With QB's like Brady Quinn, Jamarcus Russell, and possibly Brian Brohm entering the draft there is a great chance a top ten QB falls into our lap at #9. That fills the talent portion of the equation.

The other side of the equation is the need for a QB from other teams. Oakland, Detriot, Cleveland, and Minn. all pick ahead of the fish and all have need at the QB position. And while all have a need the likelyhood of each of those teams taking a QB in front of us is slim. This will also work in our favor as some of the previously listed QB's will be off the board...but not all of them. Leaving teams picking behind us in a desperate position to move up and grab whichever one of these players is left. And the team I predict will make the move is CAROLINA. The Panthers (picking 14th) have a sound defense and good weapons on offense. S. Smith and D. Williams are currently hampered in their abilities will Delhomme at the helm. Moving down 5 spots gives the fish the possibility of still getting the player they want while also picking up a draft pick at the same time.

Every single year i want them to trade down...The Phins need to accumulate more picks.

One thing I read in your post that stood out..

" there is a great chance a top ten QB falls into our lap at #9. "

If they are a top 10 quarterback, wouldn't it only make sense that they are, infact, picked in the top 10?

Its funny u say that bc for YEARS AND YEARS its been the same story at the end of every dolphin season.. fans saying the usual "we need a QB" whether its been guys like aj feeley, ray lucas, harrington, fiedler at the helm, its the same story.. so IF big if, a guy like Brian Brohm happens to fall to us miraculosly (sp?) then why why why would we be santa claus and give a huge gift to the panthers wen we ourselves could pick up Brohm who has all the makings of a potential great NFL qb. We havent drafted a QB in forever. For those saying we need an OL in the 1st round.. #1. An OL prolly wont be the BPA at the #9 spot and #2. For those who have watched our OL all season long could see that the run blocking has improved where getting 100 yard games for our Rbs wasn too difficult despite the pass happy offense we ran and our pass blocking, yes could definitely improve but good to know it has been improving and with a LT we should be ok at the OL spot

Clearly...but what was meant was a top ten QB talent. Not every player selected in the top ten is a top ten talent.

Yeah, we all would like to get another Marino in the draft, but that hasn't happened. Why ? Because we have not gone after a top talent QB in the draft since. We've tried late round flyers, second or third string QB's from other teams that seemed to have potential, to now grabbing other teams fallen stars. With a HUGE ? on DC's knee still pending, Joey not being the answer and Lemon obviously being a decent #2 or #3 guy at best, The only way we are going to have a long-term solution is to pay big $$$ to a top free agent QB (none available and no $$$ to do this) or draft one and develop him. I think it's time to once again address the issue via the draft (if one of the elite QB's are still there at #9) and fill the other holes with the other picks and F/A. I know we have many holes in other positions as well, but none are more critical to a team as a quality QB. And as much as I hope DC will be a great QB for us this next year, it's a huge gamble toward another sub-par season and beyond on a very questionable knee.

jason has talked to wayne.i have said it before .trade jason to cinny or denver for a 1st.trade down and get a 2nd.giving us 2 first, and 2 second round picks just to start.i want the gaurd from texas, somewhere in there.we need young ,good players.we should have the money.

We need to trade down for more picks, there is to much talent in this upcoming class that we can make a big impact if we have more picks. Trade down no lower than 15 and possible inquire about trades for harrington (sign a better veteran QB --new HC has no allegence to him), booker (right price), and place feelers our for R. Hill, R. Williams, and M. Wright. I am not saying trade them but let see how the fish are bitting.

If such an opportunity appears I agree we should jump at the chance. The draft is a crap shoot anyway. Nobody really knows for sure who is going to excell at the next level. At 14 we could still pick guys like poluzny or Willis at LB, or Ginn maybe. We could end up with a perennial pro bowler and an extra draft pick. Who knows

or we could end up w/ a sorry pick and not be able to get ginn jr or brian brohm.im in favor of not trading down

If Carolina were to trade their 14th for our 9th, they'd need to also send their 3rd and 4th Rounders.

According to a majority of NFL Scouts, Brian Brohm isn't a top ten talent..

They have him listed as the 3rd best quarterback but not at the level of Jamarcus Russel and Brady Quinn.

I personally would love for Jamarcus Russel
