Trade for Bryce Young?

He just got benched in Carolina and yes he's smaller than tua but doesn't have an injury history and can develop.

Jesus Christ first Zach Wilson and now this. Is there another crappier player we can start a thread about? Let’s ask Ryan Leaf to come out of retirement.

I legit feel like Bryce is going through something similar to what Tua experienced in his first few years mentally. Not that he has some crazy douchebag HC staring him down at practice telling him how much of a POS he is, but something isn’t right with Young and hasn’t been for a while. I watched almost every snap he took at Bama….. while I didn’t think he was #1 overall worthy, I’m appalled at his complete lack of development. He actually looks worse than he did as a rookie.

I think his confidence is shot and they’ve done nothing to help build it back. The lack of weaponry and poor offensive line play doesn’t help. They invested big in FA with Hunt and Lewis but hasn’t worked out. I don’t think the new coaching staff inherited him with the idea to keep and develop.

Would I trade a day 2 pick for him? Hell no. I’d take a flier on a late rounder though. See if McDaniel can rebuild his confidence. His skillset is actually a perfect fit for this offense. It’d be a Josh Rosen like punt though, at much lower comp.

If traded for the new team would only be responsible, in terms of salary, for what is now the going rate for a QB2 if I read that correctly on ESPN earlier.

I’d fear for the little guy behind our OL though. He does have a snappy quick release. He’s in the wrong scheme/system. He’s not a QB who can succeed in ANY system, IMO.

I thought people stopped smoking crack in the 90's
I guess I was wrong.
At least I'm man enough to admit when Im wrong.

The biggest issue it there is undersized and then there is completely tiny for a position. Tua at least falls in the undersized. Young is tiny tiny. He was 5'10 204 at the combine. But ate and did everything to gain weight before hand. That is not his playing weight. At Bama he was like 185 tops. And he is not some crazy good athlete either. The NFL may just be to much for him.
Murray is 5”10 and undersize, he actually weighs less than Young. Murray is just an athletic freak at his size. I believe he is the only player to be drafted in both MLB and the NFL in the 1st round. Murray was drafted by the A’s. In my opinion, neither Young nor Tua are athletic enough to be consistently successful in the NFL due to their size and lack of athleticism.

Exactly, Murray can get away with his small size because of his freakish athleticism, something Tua and Young don't have.

The issue for me is his 1.1 rookie contract. The cost is vastly higher than a competent backup in the out years. Would he negotiate a pay cut in order to stay in the NFL as a backup with a long term opportunity to start? Or just get released, still get paid, and catch on in the CFL or whatever (I actually don't know if signing with CFL let's the Panthers off the hook or not)?

If a pay cut could be negotiated in advance--HIGHLY unlikely I know--and the Panthers would take a day 3 pick and/or swap, then maybe bring him in as a backup. But I don't think it would be appreciably better this season than rolling with Skylar and Snoop. It begins to make more sense if Tua ends up retiring or being retired.

With all those improbabilities I think the team would be better served just drafting a couple of prospect QBs late next year (unless a quality candidate is sitting there when they draft early) to build out higher potential bench strength behind Tua or a veteran FA if Tua isn't here.

He would prob be ok if he sat a couple years like rookies used to do. Maybe even behind Tua if he comes back. He clearly wasnt ready to play especially for a team that bad

Why are these people so dumb? No one is trading for Bryce Young.
