Armando Salguero makes some very good points in this article on why JT should be traded now. I especially agree with the following:

If the Dolphins can pick up a second- or third-round pick for Taylor, that would give them five picks in the first three rounds of the coming draft. And that's one more player that should become a starter within two or three years in exchange for one player who will likely be out of the league in two or three years

What is your opinion concerning JT now that ZT is gone? Trade him or not?

I say trade him. Draft Chris Long, then pickup a DT or ILB with the pick we receive for JT.

There is no loyalty, everyone is expendable for picks, so yes take the pick and sve the cap money and get young. Let's blow it up all at once and get it over with.

Does no one think that a Long / Taylor DE partnership would be one of the best DE partnerships in the league?

Also who better would there be to help Chris Long adapt to life in the NFL. You could'nt ask for a better mentor

im almost 100 percent certain the redskins (dum snyder ) will give their 1st round pick for JT. and i dont think it'll even be that difficult.

They seem to be too enamored with acquiring Chad Johnson although it's been repeatedly stated that the man isn't going anywhere

keep him. we need at least some veteran leadership next year. i wouldn't know who to watch if JT and ZT were gone. talk about not being excited for dolphin games.

however, if we managed to get a 1st rounder, or maybe an early 2nd, then i guess i could live with that. noone is safe!

Trade him is time to start of new lots of young guys with potential. in a year or two(Vonnie Holiday/Joey porter)

Last season we had no pass rush at all because Matt Roth was so **** all teams had to do was double Taylor. It crippled us all season on defense so I just dont understand why throw away the chance to have two very good rushers on either side.

Call me a moronic homer but with 40 million dollars of cap space and lots of day 1 picks, is it SO unrealistic that we contend strong in 09?? I dont think so, so unless we get blown away by an offer let's keep him around and let him go out like Strahan might.

I agree, my heart cant take it. But Looking at the Team in 3-5 years, then trading him would be best, but only for max value. As mention before only for a Day 1 pick. Their are teams that would trade for him. Like ATL (they have two 2rd picks) Wash, STL, etc.

The key is to trade him with in reason of the potential return value. You dont find Pro Bowl DE that easy. Especially the difference makers. So thats why trading Taylor has to be looked at in some many ways before a decision is made.

i agree that you have to get value for him......but he also has a huge cap number. and would set us up real well in the future if we were to cut ties now. you know, that no matter who they get in the draft in return for JT, there is a great chance that player will never be close to what JT has done for us.
