Trade Madison for a QB Now!

If Madison was really such a bad CB right now, why on earth would people want to trade a decent QB for him? I mean the way you describe him one would expect that other teams would give us Jeff Garcia or Jeff george for him

Yeah, lets do it!

Wait... don't we take a cap hit to trade him? Isn't it pretty big? Aww hell... it's worth it, after all his tackling is HORRIBLE. So we go 4-5 million over the cap. Just cut Feeley and Frerrote to save 1.1 million, we've got a nice new QB after all. Ok... just 3.9 million left. Cut Larry Chester and that takes us down to 3.3 million. Depth? What do you need that for?! WE'VE GOT A NEW QB!!!!!!!!111111oneoneone.

Ok... we're getting desparate now... we've got to cut people who are going to kill our cap next year.... but hell it gets us under this year, no? Cut Reggie Howard and save 2.25 million. Down to 1.5 million now, things are getting better! Cut Seau and save 1 million. Sorry Vonnie Holliday... we love you but we need the cap room... We save 600k, and that leaves us 100k under. Phew!

Ok... wait, what do you mean we have to pay that new QB we just aquired?!

So that leaves us with crap for depth, not to mention that we've got Travis Daniels and Mario Edwards starting for us at CB. How well does Mario Edwards tackle? I'm willing to bet no better than Madison. Who do we cut to make cap room for the QB we traded for? Might as well be Jason Taylor... seeing as we're screwed for the next 10 years anyway.

Go go "I dislike this player so that must mean we can cut/trade him with no ill effects" threads!

Wait a sec.... Dave, is that you?

LOL, that was good stuff! I'd actually just as soon cut Feeley AND Frerotte, to hire some better tacklers. Berlin and Rosenfels can't be that much worse, and might even be better than what we have with some play time ! ! ! :rofl3:

For years, Madison was one of the league's better locked down (one on one ) corners. His play has dropped significantly (but not his salary). Zero interceptions last year! With Saban's defensive emphasis on zone coverage and run support, Madison is really getting exposed. Sam hasn't tackled anyone yet on running plays and of the few big running plays against us during preseason, guess who they're running at? When Denver and their vaunted running game comes to town, we can only pray for 90 degree weather & 90% humidity. Obviously, Sam can still play and would be a great pickup for the right defense, but our quarterback situation is arguably the worst in the league. Rather than speculate, (ad nauseum) Feely or Frerotte. Nick this team needs a Quarterback!:D Madison has trade value. :yell: Let's do it, Nick.

well we age at it we can trade ricky williams for a hot dog van and trade ronnie brown for a green monkey!

get a grip zonk4ever

It's too bad that Wanny and Spielman didn't go to another NFL team together. They'd be the only morons who would be stupid enough to do this trade and give us their QB.

Trades out of desperation hurt you for years. We will suck for this next year, for sure, but we are working our way out of this hold that Dumb and Dumberer put us in. That will take time, not miracle trades.

We'll draft high again next year. Perhaps we'll use Ricky to move up and get the best QB out there. We're just not going to make a miracle happen because we need one.

Cb is one of our weaknesses..and you want us to trade one of the only good ones we have.....your really a Jets fan arent you??:D

Why? Most will simply bashing him & toss him into the scrap heap the moment he does not set the world on fire.

Had Miami drafted Alex Smith this year, some would have already declared him a bust.

Yes you are right some will bash a new QB. That does not mean we should not try to find a good to great QB of our future. Does it?

Teams should ALWAYS be on the lookout for QB talent even if they have a franchise QB. If Tom Brady was injured who would take his place?

i would disagree.
Madison will do "OK", but isnt a "lock down" CB.

but why would you trade him anyways. you have NO other CB that can even do the job they have now. and you want to move them all up??? who would be your #1 CB? who woudl be your #2 CB?

come on. are your trying to get a better draft pick next season???

EDIT: also, what QB would you trade for? what team would be willing to give up a starting QB (im assuming you want a starting QB), for a slightly above average CB?

Rivers for Madison? Staying with the qb tandem we have is essentially saying: "wait 'til next year."

We'll trade you Brooks Bollinger for Sam. What caliber of QB would you expect to bring back?

I'm not a Sam Madison fan, and to me it is clear that he has lost a step. But what team is going to take Sam Madison's salary and ship away a QB in return? I mean at best we could get a 2nd string QB, most likely mediocre, Sam Madison has no real value. I'd like to trade for say a Billy Volek as he wants out of Nashville, but Sam Madison is not going to get the deal done. Especially since most teams dont have the cap room for him.

who makes alot of open field tackles and barely misses them. Not many other cbs tackle like madison.

Madison's tackling sucks. He's a great cover corner, yeah, but a sure tackler he is not.
