Hey do you guys think this would be a smart trade if we did it
Dolphins may be planning to trade with Lions

It appears the Miami Dolphins are moving forward with a strategy to replace Daunte Culpepper and Joey Harrington.
If the Dolphins gave the Lions a second and No. 9 overall, I bet that would be good enough for Detroit. That would allow them to get the player they want (Patrick Willis) and pick up another second. If they got both second round picks, it's an absolute no-brainer.
And another thing, doesn't it speak volumes that young, established NFL stars (Willis McGahee, Dre Bly, Tatum Bell, etc) are traded for third-, fourth- and fifth-round draft picks, and guys like JaMarcus Russel are going for a first and possibly two seconds?
Thanks to former MSU shooting guard Chris Hill for taking the time to email me this link. (OK, I don't know if he's actually the former MSU shooting guard.)

Come on Bill, a first and a second. It better be more like a definite two second rounders and a first, maybe MORE! That would be ridiculous only to receive a first and second rounder.

There is no way the Lions move down 7 spots for just 1 second rounder. Is this Miami Harold writer a Mlive poster?

The comment made about the Lions moving down to the #9 spot for a 2nd round pick is ludicrous. The comment about them moving down to #9 for two 2nd rounds would deserve little more than a smerk.
It is obvious that the person putting forth this conjecture doesn't understand the draft very well! And in this case the acquisition of a franchise QB (be it Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell).
The Lions could potentially trade with Cleveland so they can get Quinn but it would cost at least a 2nd round pick and probably even a 5th rounder thrown in. They could then possibly trade with the Cardinals at #5 from #3 for at least another 2nd round pick and possibly more. So for them to go down to #9 from #5 would probably require at least a 2nd and a 3rd rounder--but Quinn would certainly be long gone by that time.
The bottomline is it would require a whole lot more than the phins can afford to move up from #9 to #2.

March 15, Miami Herald: Although they might be the top two picks in the April draft, the Dolphins are interested in speaking with quarterbacks JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn, and could bring both to South Florida as part of their annual visits of college players.
...
The reason the Dolphins want to talk to both players could be telling: They could be considering a scenario where they trade up to the No. 2 overall pick, where Detroit is listening to offers. The interest also shows Miami's uncertainty over the status of Daunte Culpepper and his future with the team.
The Dolphins have the No. 9 pick in the draft, and have two second-round picks.
I tend to stay out of these speculative trade discussions since there is an almost absolute chance that nothing suggested will come true, but... ...
