Was looking and BP has history of trading picks for year later.

Considering DT pool is supposed to be weak compared to a strong pool in 2010, do you think BP if possibilty arose would trade:-

1st round pick - for 4-7 pick + 1st round pick next yr

2nd round pick - for 1st round pick next yr

I believe it depends on who drops to our pick at 25. But i do think there is a chance this trade could happen.

That's not even close to good enough, if someone wants in to the first again we should be looking at a 1st next year with a 2nd this year or multiple picks this year like a 3rd and 5th.
Your 2nd round pick deal makes more sense. We're not giving up a possible solid starter this year just so we can get two possible starters next year, really we're no better off because 4-7 rounds picks are a crap shoot. We'd probably end up paying more money too, so unless we get a 1st next year and 2nd this year I wouldn't do it.

It's true that BP has done that in the past with other teams, not sure he would do that in this upcoming draft. However if some team is motivated enough like NO was for Ricky Williams years ago then I guess it could happen.

If Stafford or Sanchez drops to 25 I can see someone doing a trade ala the San Francisco trade for Joe Staley. 25 for a 2009 2nd and a 2010 1st. It would be ideal because the Draft next year will be stacked due to the possible 2011 rookie cap.

fair comment - just looked into prev trades and not often i say but you are right!!!!

thats a smart idea. We need a CB, so if they think they can get one in the second then yes do it

i've been flirting with this idea also... it rarely happens, but when the opportunity occurs, it's an offer you can't refuse...

i'd think more along the lines of getting a 2009 2nd rounder a 2010 first rounder... because you can't get away with a draft of 2 2nd rounders a 3rd rounder etc... especially with the anemic free agency we've had, we have holes to fill and we need the most picks we can have

I'd definitely be ok with a move like that provided we get a fair value in return. None of the guys I keep seeing us projected to pick (Cushing, Matthews, Darius Butler, English) excite me. Considering the depth available at CB, we would still be able to get a starting caliber player at 2A if we traded out of the first.

I'm a eat dessert first kind of guy so I don't really want to wait until next year to improve this club, even if it might land us some extra picks. We really need help on defense and I think we can do it now.

sign me up if the pick we get this year is near 40 and a 1st in 2010. hopefully a team will be that desperate. would also be nice to turn satele into a 2010 late 2nd or 3rd. im all for accumulating as many 2010 picks as possible with the huge projected junior class coming out. maybe henne goes ape**** this preseason, and we can move pennington for a 2nd to a team with an injured starter.

i also like the other idea of trading 2a for a 2010 1st. or 2b for 2010 2nd and 3rd.
