getting rid of wally was the best move this off season.
starting with the immediate we get a solid wr to fill a need. and pick up a serious prospect in l.gordon,he could be a steal for us. i was gonna start a thread comparing wally's impact in week one of 3 tackles vs bookers and gordons close to 100 yds of offense and j.williams 1 sack and 2 tackles, but lets look deeper. i think getting rid of in my opinion, an overated de, we won big time for next yr also we wont be strapped with his overpaid salary and we can resign randy mac, plus look to upgrade our ageing def, starting with d.bo.
i think booker, gordon and resigned mac will far out way what wally would have offered us. and just a hunch i also think williams and whoever will post better numbers than wally this yr.

good Call. I still have to say Wale was great for the team, and I wish him well. But there is no question this was the right move. One very good receiver and one starting RB on the team/on the field vs one guy sitting at home watching TV drinking beer.....not to hard a call to make.

It is funny how people are trying to compare OGUN vs. Other DE's (OTHER THAN JT.....Who happened to have 0 sacks & what 1 tackle....Guess he is seeing ALL the ATTENTION again.)

* The other team will be running at OGUN's void all season.
* JT will be seeing double teams ALL SEASON long.
* Bowens & Williams will not be able to stop the run & get the sacks....That take pressure off of JT like OGUN did!

Everyone is always so quick to dis OGUN's ability. Saying he only got the sacks because of JT. That is going to happen when a FAN is bitter. The fact is that OGUN helped JT......Just as much as JT helped OGUN. BUT OGUN WAS MUCH BETTER vs. THE RUN THAT JT!!!!

He is gone let it GO! Just hope that the patch work DE's can help JT.

I agree with all but Gordon, and whomever takes Wallys spot will put up better numbers. The better numbers thing that will be tough to match Ogun is a talented end and will be tough to replace. The Gordon comment well lets just wait and see because it's easy to say he will be solid but saying it and doing it are two different things. I like having Gordon I think for what was avalible to have and what we had Gordon is much better then what we had before he arrived.

That my friend is just your opinion. Espcially the bitter part. It isn't a fact that OGUN helped JT just as much as JT helped ogun.

It is also false that OGUN was much better verses the run than JT.

I think we have to count our blessings with Wale, who was one of Wanny's bright spots. He was undrafted, we stuck with him and developed a pro bowl DE. As much as I hate to lose him, it was time for several reasons.

First, we get a good WR, second we have a very good RB prospect in Gordon (both by the way, especially Gordon, have very cap-friendly contracts), we clear a lot of space on the cap that would have gone to Wale, and we lose a guy who was ready to go. Wale's ego was getting a little too big because of his pro bowl nomination. It was obvious from his parting comments that he was no longer the humble team player he once was.

If Gordon works out as well as we hope, Wale really helped this team a lot. In a weird turn of events, we get rid of Ricky who was going to be asking for a lot more money anyway, and we get a very affordable, hard-working Gordon who looks like a real team player.

It was also mentioned that we have some work to do as far as replacing some defensive guys. Tim Bowens, for sure, is on his last legs, so a DT as the #1 pick next year would be nice. Gordon may enable us to do that.

In summary, Wale has been a real blessing. First, he developed into a great DE for us and second he is now helping us rebuild for the future.

JT/Ogun

Hey, Taylor has no problems with tackling. Ogun got more stops, most likely because opponents liked their chances running to his side more than going at JT.

You know what sucks, though? No tip-toe Tim-Bo again this week.

The thing I don't get is why people on this site don't realize that you can only have 5-7 of the big contract guys on a team while we have a cap. We have JT, Zack, Sam, and Patrick on D. We couldn't add another one to the D. We need money to help the O. One of those contracts is usally for the QB (We have two together that equals a big contract), one for the main tailback, and one for the main WR, plus you have the good O-linemen to think about. It is very hard to keep all the people that may deserve a big contract. We got alot out o the Wale deal, and are not in cap hell. It is a good thing that he held out, making it easy to make the desision to move him.

MAN THAT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now Zach is going to have to shed OL.....ALL DAY LONG. That will open up the run for cincy and that will open up the play action pass deep....

Man when will this NIGHTMARE END?

This team cannot afford another big contract on the defensive side of the ball...........

not bitter at all, pointed out other de's because wally was the other de. news flash jt seen double teams for yr's even when wally was here. my main focus is he's overated for the money he wanted,he was just a piece of solid def he was not the heart of the def, he not only benefitted from jt but also from our db's. as another poster stated we needed help on the offense and all the big money cant be tied up in the def. i wish him well but glad we can have a possible 3-4 players to fill needed spots on this team, booker and gordon this yr and hopefuly randy and a fa next yr. peace
