Let me first say I don't like the idea of trading Ronnie. I love him as our featured back and he makes the team much better. However I have been reading articles speaking to the speculation that he may get traded and all of the talk has led me to believe that it could possibly happen.

Some talk has him in trades to get receivers like Boldin or Edwards. I would do that only if we get that receiver and a pick but not straight up. What could happen is Ronnie gets traded for only picks, giving Miami either a second one or a high 2 and a 4th or 5th. If that happens, Miami could pick a WR and RB with their first two picks. Say...Nicks and Donald Brown...or Harvin and Andre Brown. Something like that could work. It would make Miami younger and fill needs plus give us more picks.

Anyway...this is just me trying to prepare my mind in case Ronnie does get traded. Any thoughts?

Ya, that leaves us with Ricky,Cobbs, and Hilliard.

That isn't going to cut it.

What do you suggest as a solution?????????????????????????????

Did you not read my post? I said if Ronnie got traded then Miami would draft another running back to take his position. A RB like Donald Brown out of UConn or Andre Brown out of NC State. Miami is high on both of these backs.

Keeping with the UPS theme, eh?

.

I am not crazy about the idea of trading Ronnie either, however if we were to pick up some more picks (several) and draft someone like Shonn Green (sp?) out of Iowa, I could understand the Trifecta's thinking. Ronnie is going in his FA year soon (can't remember if it is 2009 or 2010) and even though I think Ronnie has done well, it has not been #2 pick in the draft good. You couple that with the life expectancy of RB's and it could make sense. Again, I am not crazy about the idea, but I could understand it.

Not really. It's more of a GEICO theme. It's about saving people money. Draft Andre Brown, slap #23 on him, that way people won't have to go out and buy yet another jersey.

In all seriousness, Andre is a pretty talented RB. I think he will be one of those guys that is better as a pro than he was in college.

Could it happen...YES...will it happen...who knows. As stated here before...it does make sense. It makes sense that the Browns would like to trade...Edwards most likely for Brown...they don't have much at running back...and they have a unhappy camper at receiver.
Both players are appx the same age...and both are quality...and both fit needs, for each team.

And don't discount McCoy...this kid has amazing feet and change of direction.

This team already has needs that need to addressed with the top three picks. Those guys aren't going to available later on. Do you have any other suggertions???????????

Or do you just want to ignore the needs a CB,WR,OLB,NT,OG,OT,S

Who is going to play CB opposite Will Allen?

Who is going to start at WR with Ginn? Camarillo probably starts on the pup.???

Who is going to compete with Soliai to shar snaps with Fergs. He is too old to play every down, or even most downs.

Who are they going to add to rush the passer?

Who is backing up LT???????????????????????????????????????????

Who is backing up Yeremiah Bell who is very injury prone????????????

Who is going to compete against Donald Thomas who is functionally a rookie for the OG position???????

Who is backing up Wilson at FS?????????????

Is Berger really good enough to backup injury prone Groves??????????

And you want to create another HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everybody keeps talking about taking a WR if we get extra picks. I think the fins are going defense. I don't think the fins will go WR until day 2 of the draft.

if we ever trade brown we deserve a 1st and a 3rd no option idc if he is not worth it

If we traded Ronnie, we would only get picks for depth as this isnt a very good draft class. You don't trade one of your best players for depth. We could get a decent RB in a mid round, but its not wort the risk, especially when we already have a good RB in Brown.

if we trade ronnie for edwards or boldin we would take a rb in the first 3 rounds wells brown in the first mccoy in the second greene ringer coffee in the third

which then we really wont be able to work on r defence in the draft

Sounds like a BP type move to me, either way. Gonna find his type of RB and get another pick for day two to boot.

No I don't. I'm not advocating trading Ronnie. My original point was that it seems there is lots of evidence suggesting he is available at the right price. Nothing more. I am being logical in saying if Miami does decide to trade Ronnie, the front office has a plan to counter his loss. And yes, Andre Brown will be available in the second and also Donald Brown, though he could go in the late first.
