I personally believe this "might" be the smarter choice depending on projections after combines and what not ....would you guys be pissed if we did this cause I think we have way to many needs I would rather have more pics...waiting for the draft is nerve racking haha

I'm almost always in favor of trading down, but it's easier said than done.

oh no doubt about it just curious if others are on the same boat as me on that one

If the best player available is on offense, I think we should trade down to the highest bidder. If the best player available is on defense, I think we should take him.

Sign me up! Id love to move into the 15th-20th range and draft a stud OLB and get a free 2nd round in the process...

I've been saying trade down the last two drafts but it never happens.
But you'd like to think that if someone like Adrian Peterson is there somebody might be willing to trade up and get him. I mean he could put a team like the Giants or the Broncos over the top.

i think if we trade down we would also get picks in the future such as a 2008 3rd round prob...but we could come away with a 2nd this year.

I know this is not very likley but I would love to trade down and draft OT Levi Brown from Penn St and also take WR Sydney Rice from South Carolina. This could happen if were were able to work out a trade with the Patriots, since they have two first round draft picks. The only problem is that, would we be willing to work out a trade with the Pats since they are in our division. I looked on the draft chart and this would be a pretty even trade for picks, the values almost = 1350 for the ninth pick whick almost equals New England two low !st rounds picks. Will this happen More than likly not, but stranger things have happened in the draft. It would be nice if we could get a starting LT and and 1# WRn in the first round. I hope this falls into place.

While things have changed since my post I still think the D-phins best opportunity to trade down is with #14 Carolina. They need a QB and many (myself not included) think we also need a QB. Look for Carolina to trade up if a top QB slides to #9. Quinn is a possibilty. Remember what happened to Leinhart last year, and he is a much better QB than Quinn.

I think every fan thinks trading down is the better option unless there is one of those must haves in the position you are sitting. Now that being said you do need a partner. Now i also think Cam helps there as well. It would take alot to get the chargers to move down with you. But in future drafts it is good to have that coach that is still respected with his old organization. Much like DJ and the bears

I would be pissed. Why? Because we are in the perfect spot for either Reggie Nelson or Tedd Ginn Jr.

Then, trading down is nothing more than speculation and wishful thinking. If we trade down it would be a slot or two. Dont see any of the teams a few slots down wanting to give up there draft for the #9 pick.

So, no. We must base our draft on the #9 pick. "IF", we are able to aquire one of NE's first round picks for Chambers...then, fine. Trade Chambers for one of NE's first rounders and draft Tedd Ginn Jr at #9.

But if NE is unwilling to do so....planning on Sidney Rice to fall to one of their first rounders...then oh well.

We keep Chambers, sign Kevin Curtis, and draft Reggie Nelson at #9.

That's more realistic.

And who would you, realistically, draft at #14? Nelson and Ginn Jr would be gone by then...so who?

I agree. I had read the Panthers were impressed by Brohm and probably would have traded up to get him.

The phins IMO can wait until the 4th or 6th to get a QB. Its more consistent w/ Mueller's MO and there might be a decent one available.... Rowe, Kolb, etc..

I don't know that this is the year to trade down. At 9 you have the chance to draft a very good player. Usually that is a good spot to "catch a falling star." This is a solid draft also so you should be looking at getting a pretty good player in the 2nd as well. I'd rather get one potential superstar and a good player in the 2nd than 3 good to solid players.
