It has been speculated that after 1.5 years in the NFL, the phins are thinking of trading beck for a late round pick. I assume by late round, they are thinking 6th roundish. Obviously by hardly letting him practice, and pulling him completely from preseason participation, they have zero use for him.

My question is who mismanaged this. The way I see it, there are 2 choices.

1. The prior regime was soo stooopid, that they picked John Beck 4 rounds too early, and no other team should have picked him before the late rounds because he is simply a no talent scrub, or

2. John Beck was a legitimate 2nd round pick inherited by the current regime, but the current regime simply could not or would not develop him anywhere near his 2nd round value, and so they are going to basically write off their prior year 2nd round pick.

Somewhere along the way, someone f'ed up. Who? And don't cop out by saying Beck did, cause 1.5 years under two coaches and 2 systems doesn't give enough data to blame it all on him.

You forgot the third option, that this coaching staff is failing to give a developing player any time to actually develop, and that if they sell low on him or cut him, they may come to regret it as much as the Saints came to regret allowing Jake Delhomme and Marc Bulger to walk before they got lucky and got hold of Drew Brees.

ck, what round draft pick would you trade jon beck for right now??? i haven't heard your answer.

Easy answer....option no.1.

Just take a look....Cam Cameron.

Bill Parcells....hmmmmm.

Which one of the two would be most likely to blunder and which one would be most likely to be doing the smart thing.

John Beck has not been in the NFL 1.5 years.

Please do not hijack another Beck thread, thank you.

I can't believe this is even a question.... Just listen to Sparano gushing about Henne in his press conference today..Mentioning how he is "Very Comfortable" with henne as a QB guiding this team......

Sparano mentioned how much poise he has, how he has total command of the team in the huddle like Pennington.. And he said that Henne has made the "most heads-up" plays in camp of all the QB's...... The ONLY mismanagement would be giving Beck the snaps instead of giving Henne taking the snaps, when Henne is a MUCH better and MUCH more polished QB for the NFL.

sure seems that way.

It's not like I've been avoiding answering it. I haven't seen anyone ask me that question.

I might take a high third for him. In other words, I expect the 49ers to suck (as usual) and so if they offered their third...I'd be tempted. I think that there has been some damage to his true value overall since he was drafted, though clearly that damage has been overstated by many, and so if the right team offered a third for him I think I would be tempted to take it...because Henne is looking pretty good. But, that would be very risky. Very. Put all your eggs in Henne's basket, and don't be surprised if you get burned for it.

I didn't say it so bluntly, to try to keep my own opinion out of the question, but under option 2 it says can't or won't develop him. If there were an option 3, that would have my vote.

Cam screwed up not developing him properly. And if the current FO dumps him they will have wasted a 2nd round pick without really finding out what they have.

I know this is your opinion, but before you lose all credibility, I want to clarify that you think Beck being taken early in the 2nd round was 4 rounds too soon. Is that what you're saying?

Here's some WVD logic: They're show casing Henne. Gonna turn that 37th pick into a 1 or 2.
