Personally, I can't see many teams giving up a substantial pick for Ricky Williams. By substantial, I mean something in the first day. (Remember, there were no takers for Alexander and James for a second last off-season)

It is my opinion that the best Miami can hope for is a 4th this year and a conditional pick next year depending on performance. Hell, this could be one instance where it is conditional over the next few years depending on performance. The bottom line is that there is no precedent for this type of situation.

That being said, if any team is short sighted enough to give up a 2nd rounder, it would have to be the "Maurice Clarett Broncos".

For me, the bottom line is that Ricky is only a Dolphin until this contract runs out. Everyone must admit that we can't afford to keep him after that.

The best thing for the 2006 Dolphins is to not trade Ricky, but, the best thing for the Super Bowl contending 2007 and beyond Dolphins is to trade him.

Nick will do what is best for this organization over the long haul. And if a trade presents value for this organization, he will take it.

there is just no real reason to trade him unless we can get someone that can come in and make an instant impact at thier respective position,(QB) and it should be a position we are in need of (QB) and I just dont see too many out there that are either owned or in the draft, that people are willing to give up.

Alexander and James were going to want multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts. Ricky's contract is not going to be like that. Plus he's the best of the three backs, considering just pure running talent.

yea right:lol:
Ricky seems to have lost his run-over-you ability which was his trademark. He's more a speed guy now, and he takes a little while to get into top gear.

Actually Ricky had 1853 behind a so-so line. What do Edge and Alexander both have in common, dominating o-lines. Give Ricky those lines and he rushes for 1800+ next year easy.

I'm going to laugh at you now.:sidelol:

Thats rediculous. People need to understand two things:

1. Ricky is not worth as much as his ability dictates because of the past off-field issues. He is not reliable.

2. Ricky will not be a Miami Dolphin beyond his current contract unless, and god forbid, Ronnie Brown can no longer play football.

For that reason, Nick will accept any trade that provides the Miami Dolphins Organization more value than the value Ricky will give us as a backup over the duration of his deal.

Its really that simple.

I understand that, but what I am saying is that the reason Ricky might be worth more than Alexander and James is because he doesn't demand the huge contract that they do.

I'm still laughing.

i never said anything about a line, firstly. And secondly, I guess you might have been in that cave with Osama or something for the past 18 months, because he did happen to take a leave of abscence for a year. the ricky that ran for 1800+ yards is long gone. Trust me. he is only a percentage of his former self, any level-headed fan would acknowledge this. So i think I will re-return the laugh.

Actually, Ricky may have lost a step, but not a big one. Any fan who knows anything about football knows that just looking at PURE TALENT, we are talking about a top 12 back in the NFL. Any level headed fan would know that.:sidelol:

Let me ask you this question. You are a GM.

What would you be willing to trade for a 28 year old running back with a history of league documented drug abuse and an obvious lack of love for the game? For a player who would have quit if he had the money to do so? For a player whose personality can change like the weather?

Ricky is a significant risk for any team. That is why it is unrealistic to expect Miami to be able to get a 2nd and maybe even 3rd round pick.

he is worth it when we have another potential top back in Ronnie Brown who is making top dollar

When did I ever say that we would get a first, or second for him, WHEN? Show me.

Why wouldn't Ricky be here past his Contract? He likes the RB rotation, unlike the Wanny era which ran him into the ground whith a bad o-line. I think he is starting to enjoy football again. But I do think he will always have a question mark over him, so I think a new contract would be mostly an incentive driven. He only played 12 games and still almost got a thousand yards. I say redo his contract to share backfield and he gets paid per game, per yards. If he still lights it up on the field he gets paid well and he lights up his joint he is gone no big loss to us financially.
