Plus, if Thomas has that much potential as a guard that people say he does around here, shouldn't he be able to beat out the rookie?

Miami did a good job of landing Douglas where they did. He should be able to play solid football as a rookie OG. There were two (maybe three) OG's I had ranked higher when Miami drafted Douglas, but that group was the last of the OG's with a legitimate chance to start as rookies - as I saw it, anyway.
