I am dissapointed about ronnie browns agent. His agent is waiting till after alex smith signs a contract with the 49ers to sign with th dolphins. So,do u think it is a bad thing for a rookie to miss training camp because i think it is very bad knowing hes the dolphins future.

RB's missing training camp doesn't mean much.

I'm not disappointed about Brown's agent at all. He sounds like he knows his job. From the publicity Brown has gotten, it also looks like he knows his job. Brown is a RB -- he's not really going to need the camp he misses like a QB or a WR would. The best case scenario is that Smith signs easily and Brown follows suit quickly. I don't think we can bemoan the agent for doing his job and not being willing to look like a schmuck for getting far less than the first rounder got just to appease the Dolphins.

It's common for the #2 pick to wait until the #1 pick has signed and set the market before then signing himself. Also, LT in San Diego held out during his rookie season and it didn't seem to affect him alot. I don't see the Ronnie Brown signing being an issue for too long. He'll get signed and be in camp by the HOF game in my opinion.

It's not so much about his agent, it's pretty standard to see how much someone else will make to see how much your client should ask for.

Actually i would be disappointed in his agent if he didnt wait to see what Alex Smith gets. Ronnie deserves to get paid in that ballpark, he just needs to know what ballpark it is. Dont worry, worst case senerio, saban has a mic in his helmet saying "on this play run right"

Standard procedure...if anything, I'm more angry at Alex Smith's agent. He's seemingly reclining, taking his time and Ronnie is reaping the negative consequences of that, given our camp starts a week earlier.

I home he gets in camp...it will be important for his team-building. And I really want him in the HOF game as it's the only nat. televised game I'll see and I'm a huge Ronnie fan.

It's a pretty standard move by his agent, and it doesn't worry me. San Fran is desperate to have Smith sign ASAP, because they want him to start this year. I don't think Brown will miss much time from TC becasue of this fact. Plus, we have great depth at RB; so we will be fine at that position until Brown suits up.

No worries.

At the most, Brown will miss the first week IMO. I do think that he won't get signed when TC starts, but i really don't expect for him to miss alot.

I think any hold out of training camp this year is not a great move. With a new coach, and staff passing judgement on each player, no matter who you are.
Also with one extra pre-season game, you need all the playing time you can get. Everyone apears to be learning a new system, you need to be there to gel in that system.
Then add in Fan Hype, we all wanna see the whole team in training camp.
:missmeth:

Most first rounders havent signed yet, and most dont end up missing the start of the season. This is a domino effect - once a few begin to sign, the rest fallin place.

took the words right out of my mouth:o

Brown deserves to get payed and payed as well as any player in the draft. If he misses a few days of camp to get his contract squared away, thats not a problem until those few days turn into a few weeks. Personaly, I think a first overall quarterbacks contract should have nothing to with a second overall runningback/utility player but I guess thats why I am not an agent
