Transition Tag for Solai?

Funny how people call Wilfork old but people advocate drafting a qb that is less than a year younger than wilfork high in the draft lol

Wilkfork is 30 but he has Played A LOT more snaps than Soliai. He is a also 2 inches shorter but about the same weight. That means that in order for him to be as big physically he has to have that Pot belly. Something tells me he might retire a little earlier than Soliai, lol. Hampton, Joke. Jatliff debatable but I really think of him more as a 3 tech, even though he is an excellent nose, I don't think he could handle a guy like Mangold like Soliai. Raji, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, we could have drafted him but Ireland isn't stupid. Soapoga maybe, but I've watched Soliai a lot and I doubt anyone is this leage is as quick and big 4 REALLLLL.

How is Hampton being better a joke really. You do realize that every year Pissburgh has a top run defense and Hamton is a huge part of that.
he is a 5 time probowler
Last years they ranked 8th
2010 ranked 1st
2009 ranked 3rd
2008 ranked 2nd
2007 ranked 3rd
2006 ranked 3rd
2005 ranked 3rd
2004 ranked 1st

So yea that Casey Hampton guy being a better nose tackle than Solai is quite a joke
Hell that we even arguing this is a joke but maybe you did not realize how good Hampton has been

Casey Hampton HAS BEEN the best nose and one of the most underrated football players in the past decade, i agree. But I'm telling you that if we had a draft today, and there were only two people available Hampton and Soliai, i guess u would take Hampton for the next year or 2 if he doesn't retire this offseason. I'll take Paul, hence more value.

Either way though Paul is simply too expensive for a player that only plays 30% of the plays. That is why I believe we draft Michael Brockers from LSU. He is 6'6, can play all along the d line and can rush the passer. Then in free agency or later in the draft we get our ends. Thats how u sacrifice a little run d for way more pass d and less costly.

Well when you do something like that you have to take into account age because that would be a long term investment. Im just discussing who is the better NT and its still Hampton right now, two years from now Hampton might be retired. I would take Ahyna Rubin any day of the week over Solai in a draft but he wasnt a choice. If those were the only two choices I would take Solai because he is quite younger but I would take Rubin, Wilfork, Raji, Ratliff, Taylor, Cody, Suh any draft over him

First of all Raji is soft, get of his nuts. Second, guys like Suh are way better overall football players then Soliai, i'm not debating that. What I'm saying is that the 0 gap tech player (directly over the center) is Soliai's expertise and I find him to be the most valuable 0 gap tech in this league due to his age, snap count, and performance.

Most of the time if a guy is franchised that is included with signing bonus as in the Wilfork contract.Dolphins offered him the same contract it was a very good offer , not it s not Ngata money but Solai is a not close to a Ngata player. His contract equaled 30 million guaranteed I doubt he gets more than 18 mill guaranteed anywhere else but you never know. personally i dont think the second alternate pro bowler is worth it but thats my opinion. Would rather have drafed Rubin any day

If Soliai gets $18 million guaranteed this off season, then his agent did indeed get him the $30 million guaranteed he asked from the Dolphins.

In a way but that doesnt just ignore the tag as his agent wanted. The dolphins were trying to get his cap relief as most teams do when trhey negotiate with their franchise tagged players. If they had given him 18 on top of the already 12 guaranteed it would have hurt them much more capwise last year and would have probably caused us to do less in free agency. For a reasonable contract Solai is worth keeping but I think he will get less guarantee this year.

As this league transitions more towards a passing league, it gets incredibly difficult to give $30M guaranteed to a guy who plays less than 50% of the snaps and can't rush the passer or impact the passing game at all. That money is better spent elsehwere.

Phins could have offered $45 million over 6 years with $27 of that guaranteed and they would have got a deal done.

Average of under $8 million a year. That is a deal I would see Soliai biting on. Not too expensive. Like we know, the issue wasn't on the amount per year, but on amount guaranteed.

I think paul will be surprised by the offerings he receives this offseason... one good season, does not make him an elite NT....

i can see him going to kansas city and becoming somebody you dont hear about much.

all the while, you will continue to hear about the hamptons, wilforks, and ngatas of the league...

I dont know how any team can play a NT with one good season 27 million esp when Wilfork only got 25 million and he is an alltime great. They essentially offered him the same contract but with a little less guaranteed that being 18 million which is pretty damn fair based on his performance. I say screw him and his agent and lets move on, we can spend our money better elsewhere, let some other team deal with these primadonnas , hell sign Pouha and develop a guy there wont be a drop off
