Wilkfork is 30 but he has Played A LOT more snaps than Soliai. He is a also 2 inches shorter but about the same weight. That means that in order for him to be as big physically he has to have that Pot belly. Something tells me he might retire a little earlier than Soliai, lol. Hampton, Joke. Jatliff debatable but I really think of him more as a 3 tech, even though he is an excellent nose, I don't think he could handle a guy like Mangold like Soliai. Raji, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, we could have drafted him but Ireland isn't stupid. Soapoga maybe, but I've watched Soliai a lot and I doubt anyone is this leage is as quick and big 4 REALLLLL.
Casey Hampton HAS BEEN the best nose and one of the most underrated football players in the past decade, i agree. But I'm telling you that if we had a draft today, and there were only two people available Hampton and Soliai, i guess u would take Hampton for the next year or 2 if he doesn't retire this offseason. I'll take Paul, hence more value.
Most of the time if a guy is franchised that is included with signing bonus as in the Wilfork contract.Dolphins offered him the same contract it was a very good offer , not it s not Ngata money but Solai is a not close to a Ngata player. His contract equaled 30 million guaranteed I doubt he gets more than 18 mill guaranteed anywhere else but you never know. personally i dont think the second alternate pro bowler is worth it but thats my opinion. Would rather have drafed Rubin any day
If Soliai gets $18 million guaranteed this off season, then his agent did indeed get him the $30 million guaranteed he asked from the Dolphins.
He is the best nose tackle in football, but I still think we drop him and draft Brockers
In a way but that doesnt just ignore the tag as his agent wanted. The dolphins were trying to get his cap relief as most teams do when trhey negotiate with their franchise tagged players. If they had given him 18 on top of the already 12 guaranteed it would have hurt them much more capwise last year and would have probably caused us to do less in free agency. For a reasonable contract Solai is worth keeping but I think he will get less guarantee this year.
Phins could have offered $45 million over 6 years with $27 of that guaranteed and they would have got a deal done.
Average of under $8 million a year. That is a deal I would see Soliai biting on. Not too expensive. Like we know, the issue wasn't on the amount per year, but on amount guaranteed.
