Does anyone else feel that Travis Daniels will become a really good Corner? He has shown promise at times, like that key INT he had during his first game back. I think with the right work, he could be a very good player.

We all want Travis to succeed because he is a good guy! I think that he plays real good versus run and pass. Usually young corners struggle early in thier career, but he never seemed to!

If he can stay healthy he can become a very good corner and was very impressive his rookie season but this past year his spot was taken over by Goodman but lets hope he can take his spot back and become a #1 corner.

I hope Capers simplifies the defense somewhat next year. I think all our DB's and Safeties would be a heck of alot better if they didn't have to concentrate so hard on figuring out where they are supposed to be as opposed to just knowing who they are covering and allowing instincts to take over.

When healthy, he has played great and thats even in Sabans complex defense. Im sure Capers is going to keep alot of the same things going for continuity purposes, but Im going out on a limb here to say that its going to be more simplified for our cbs and safeties. With that said, im wondering if Travis will play even better when allowed to relax and just play, rather than playing in such a complex system.

exactly, beat me to it BH.

simplifying the system wont help Daniels improve.

he's played in the system for 6 years, he should know it back to front.

thats the whole reason Saban drafted him.

now, i love Daniels potential, and i think he is going to be a solid #2 corner for us for a while, but the system wasnt hindering his growth.

I think as it is right now he isnt that great in man to man coverage and better in the zone. If he could stay healthy and with more practice he could be really good. But from what I saw this year Idont think he is anymore than a Nickle corner. He only had 1 pass defensed this year and only 36 tackles with 1 pick. I want him to succeed just as much as everyone and I hope he does but he needs to play better and stay on the field for 16 games first

i like Daniels but right now i'd hafta say Will Allen is clearly our top corner and Goodman edges out Daniels for #2........ I see good things from Travis in the future but right now im excited to see if Andre Goodman can keep it up. That's 3 starting quality corners IMO.... with two decent safeties and Jason Allen who has the makings of an all-pro at just about any position in the secondary.......and oh yeah Hill has experience at corner as well....

he wasn't healthy all season long.

It did seem like alot was thrown at the defense in terms of how difficult it was to learn the defense. I wish a different approach had been taken.

It may have been better to start with a more simplified version and then add to it when they've grasped the basics. It sounded as if a novel of info was dropped on top of them and then they had to learn it.
