Dolphins DB Travis Daniels is expected to move back to safety this year.
The 6'1/192-pound ex-cornerback will likely battle Jason Allen at free safety. Daniels is more experienced and a better tackler, but Allen has the upside.

Really?

I didn't know that Daniel has ever played saftey. He was a terrible corner last year. I'd much rather keep the combo of Bell and Allen.

I like Daniels, but with his lack speed,I think eventually he will
become depth.

Besides, I don't think Jason Allen is that much worse than Travis Daniels when it comes to tackling, if at all.

Daniels appears to be sliding down the depth chart after his rookie year. I was not impressed with his corner play or at saftey these past 2 years. I am sure getting injured and loosing his intial advantage of knowing the Saban system has worked against him these past 2 years but he seems to have regressed. I think he has a good chance of getting cut this year.

ya, he showed promise playing the nickel corner his rookie season under Saban who he also played for at LSU when he came out as a cornerback. I definitely dont remember him ever playing safety, EVER.

he would be a much better safety. he has the build and is a good tackler. he is just too slow and not lean enough for corner. huge regression since his rookie year is exactly right. i think he will be cut or switched to SS.

Travis played a little safety last year, and really didn't do well at all. Also, I don't remember him being a better tackler either.

Sounds like we'll be going after a CB in the draft.

I'm with you; in fact looking at the DBs that Saban drafted period leaves me unimpressed. For a guy who's forte is supposed to be defensive secondary, he really wasn't all that great a judge of talent for those positions.

TD is becoming one of my most least favorite players on the team. Disappointment would be an understatement.

Are you sure that most least is acceptable within the English language?
I'm just kidding with ya. He has been a huge disappointment to date. Allen has too, really considering he was our 1st rd pick year before last.
I guess all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that our new coaches can find a way to maximize these guys' strengths. I would think too if we can get an aggressive pass rush they may start looking better.

Daniels is a better tackler? I disagree. Allen comes trucking into players like an 18 wheeler

Daniels doesn't belong on the field. He's not a smart player and seriously lacks speed. Everytime I think of him, I get the image of Thomas Jones stiff-arming him like a ragdoll last season. IMO, theres zero chance he'll beat out Allen.

Daniels was a product of a familiar system and a coach who knew how to push him. IMO Saban wanted Webster that year badly and missed him when the Giants picked him right before us. We got stuck with Roth and I think Saban fell back on TD for familiarity. With all of these Cowboys coming in to help as ST players and they can play DB and safety I don't see TD making it out of camp. You can already predict a team like NE will pick him up because of the Saban - Belicheat connection - he will know the system and probably turn out decent. He got baked way too often last year - too slow IMO for safety.

I like Travis, but he's really regressed since his rookie year. Maybe he winds up as being good for depth, but I don't see him starting over Jason Allen.
