The felony charge against Dolphins defensive tackle Keith Traylor could be reduced to a misdemeanor, according to the prosecuting attorney.
Charles Ramsey, assistant district attorney for Mayes County where the charges were filed, said the threshold for a felony in Oklahoma is $500. Traylor is charged with tearing a smoke detector off the jail wall with damages in excess of $50, according to court documents. Ramsey has yet to receive a damage estimate.
"It is easier to reduce a charge from a felony to a misdemeanor than it is to upgrade it the other way," Ramsey said. "A felony in Oklahoma carries a maximum sentence of 25 years."
