Yes, we all know Trent had a doozie of a concussion, last year.

However, here some points of why I think he'll be ok.

1. Of most importance, he was allowed to fully heal before playing again.

2. While having even just a single concussions increases your chances of having another, this effect on your risk is primarily a function of accumulation, which means, that each successive concussion greatly increases the the chance of having another. The good news is that having just a single fully healed concussion, even a bad one, only slightly increases the risk, which brings me to point three.

3. Concussions are very common amongst quarterbacks, even in HS and College, they ALL get nailed in the noggin on a relatively regular basis. The fact that it took roughly 20 years of hits to the head including including HS and college play till someone landed the mother of all hits, is a testament to trent and that the guy, in all likelihood has a PRETTY TOUGH NOGGIN, capable of withstanding a vast majority of hits. Hmm, now that I think about it, he kinda does have that caveman forehead thing going on for himself.

When you taken into account that it is only his first concussion, was allowed to fully heal, and went some 20 years of playing football till he finally got one and that this will probably be his last year as a starter, the chance of him getting another concussion through just this one particular single season of play coming up, is statistically laughable in comparison to how the media has blown this WAAAAAAAAAY out of proportional, thinking themselves to not only doctors, but psychic as well. Giving their prognosis on medical conditions they know little or nothing about, and then become fortunetellers who pat themselves on the back when right (Daunte Culpepper) and are very rarely open about admitting when they were wrong (Drew Brees, Edgerrin James, Chad Pennington....). So you can all stop worrying about something that from what I have calculated, has only about a 7 to 8 percent chance of happening. The odds are strongly in our favor here. So relax, enjoy, and oh baby, let the season BEGIN!!.

Thruout your argument, you insist that one concussion does not increase the chances of a second or even more. You can't be any more wrong. History has shown, over and over again that one concussion, even a 'fully healed' one more often than not, in the NFL leads to another. That doesn't mean that he definitely will have another, but it does mean that he is more susceptible to another concussion than say, John Beck or Cpep (if he ever plays again) or any other player who has not had a concussion previously...

That all said, the chances are good that he can stay healthy thru another year or so, but that won't mean it can't happen...

It's his age that concerns me not his concussion. Most of the key players on our team are older if not past their prime. Age catches up to a football player pretty quickly. Hopefully these players can perform long enough to keep us a float until they are replaced.

I don't know about TG's chances of staying healthy this season... it's rarely done in todays NFL... let's just hope he doesn't suffer scrambled eggs... and importantly... let's hope we get the TG from 2005 and not the TG from 2006....

Nice one Larry. It also should be noted he is 37 not 27. Coming back from that hit could have altered his reaction time and agility. Who knows. He did not play well last year but has some valid points as to why. We wont know if he lost a step till preseason. Lets hope he hasn't.

Anyone woulda been concussed fromt he frank hit. Those hits dont happen often, I mean that was reeeeal nasty. The guy is tough, and has showed it throught he years. And even now that he is old, he still can take a hit. Sure he might be a bit more conussion prone i fhe does take another big hti. but its not like he's a rag doll or glass man who is going to break when he's hit next.

The hit Trent took was scary and almost, imo, illegal. I am not a doctor so I won't elaborate on the chances that he will get another one. I am pretty sure of this. If he gets hit like that again he will have another one. We can only hope that the offense is clicking enough where he does not have to run down the sideline like that and be a target for another hit like that.

There is no doubt that the concussion Green had was very serious and at the time career threating. But as thejetssuck pointed out, he was medically cleared by all doctors and was told he would have no lingering affect.

Going into 06' I was hopeful that Culpepper could come back from his injury and play the full year at a high level. But there was always that fear in the back of my mind that he would either A) Get hurt again. or B) Not return to his same level of play. Obviously, both A and B came ture.

As for Green, I have zero fear that his concussion from week 1 last year will impact him in 2007.

The whole concept of Coach Cameron & Mueler seemed to be getting younger talent, so why go after a 37 year old QB?

He's a stop gap between the Beck era, Green has one season, maybe two that's it.

I think he stays his whole contract(Three years). It will be one year starting and two backing up, or two years starting and one backing up.

Chances are they most NFL players have had their fair share of concussions. Every time you get your bell rung and you get that feeling of woozyness. That my friend is a concussion. There are concussions that are not called concussions due to the fact that we do not know enough about them YET.

But the one that Green got in KC should make his whole family really worried. It is true that once you get one chances are it will be easier to get yet another one. The small ones (getting your bell rung) will happen more often just from the HARD HITTING style of the NFL today. But when you get one like he did, you should be worried about getting knocked into a coma the next time.

I don't care about his concussion as much as the fact that he did not play that well when he came back.
