trent green situation on MMQB

They need to just quit bull****ing and give it up. We are not going to give them the 4th round pick that they want and the Cheifs need to realize that.
 
I think it's Critical to Sign Trent Green.

The offense is obviously rebuilding. Cam has his new "core" offensive players, but they are young. They need to be mentored and groomed.

The reason that Green is critical is because the QB of the future is John Beck. Call me skeptical, but there isn't a QB on the roster that can or will groom Beck. The current QBs are all competing for the starting position and grooming Beck is against their best interests. Green however is a short-timer and he knows it. Two years at best. IMO Green would be brought on to Groom Beck and would be the best at doing so. Beck isn't going to be ready to start until later in the season at best. With a mentor, he will develop properly and be ready when his time comes.

Ideally, you want Green to come in and start year 1 with Beck playing back-up. Beck studies the game under Green, and then in Year 2, they switch with Green mentoring Beck through his first starting season.

If Beck is the future of the franchise, then he needs to be groomed and mentored properly or else he will just be getting thrown to the wolves. Lots of excellent QBs have been thrown in too early and spend their time running for their lives. Grooming a QB is critical. The current QBs are not good candidates for mentoring Beck.
 
Why not give a 5th round pic and quit screwing around.no what will happen, is Miami will wait to long and another team will come in and give KC what they want, and once again, we will be without a QB.

idealy Daunte steps up and returns to pro bowl production, Trent Green beats him out, we trade Daunte for a 2 and a conditional, Green gets a hangnail game 8, Beck steps up and Green, good as he is, cannot beat him out and take back his spot.... I need a witness...

except trent green said he will only restructure his contract to play for the miami dolphins.
 
Everyone in charge thinks its critical to get Green too, so relax. He will be a phin soon enough. I dont think its critical to get him for the reasons you stated though. Groom is one of those often used words like Upside and Healthy that I completely hate....Groom....What is Beck a poodle or something??? Anyways its the coaches jobs to get the guy ready to play. Thats why they get played....to teach. Granted Green will have some useful info to offer Beck thats not why its critical for him to get here. Its critical because hes the piece that could get us in the playoffs. Its critical because we dont have a starting QB on our roster right now.

I said the same thing in another thread. Green is coming here for a job, not to groom anybody. Name one Qb that has been groomed or is even being groomed by the current Qb. There is an article I read somewhere where they asked favre about grooming rodgers and favre basically says he is here to play football. I cannot think of any current starters that have been groomed by thier predecessor to be the starter. Do you really think Kitna was grooming

Everyone needs to understand the Cheifs are not going to give us to him for any less than a 4th. They've buried theirself in a hole though and will have to cut him sooner than later.
 
Why is there a QB coach if you need a veteran QB to teach young QBs?
Isn't Cam coming into this with a pedigree as a QB coach?
Getting Green for no other reason than a mentor makes no sense. Getting an experienced QB to run the team until the QB of the future is ready to take over, that makes sense. :D
 
I love the part where Trent explicitly states he could walk into camp with his previous knowledge of the offense and know 80%-90% right away. The Dolphins know this, that's why they're not about to waste anymore draft picks.

Yea he'll only come to Miami now since the offense won't be too hard for him to pick up.
