Trestman

It could be because, the team will be much better served by using his talents to bolster the QB position rather than install a whole new offensive philosophy.

I was going to make a comment about how the correct term is "deluded", not "diluted" but on second thought maybe you have it right. Wanny is definately a watered down coach.

It wouldn't have mattered anyway....

My guess? Trestman is needed to work one on one with each of the QB's we have on the roster. Fiedler clearly needs work on his fundamentals, footwork, etc. Feeley, Rosenfels, and Stoener (when he returns from Europe) are young vets with little if any NFL experiance. Trestman is needed where he is. I say we take the luxury where we can get it.

Besides for all the Speilman/Wanny haters out there, maybe Trestman gets noticed by Huzeinga and ends up as one of their replacements?

Wanny is a watered down coach, but he is also delusional.

Trestman is widely reported as a West Coast offense specialist. The team has committed to running a similar offensive system as part of their 'Win Now' mandate. (Conventional Wisdom says a new offense takes 1-2 seasons to become successful). In addition, he is considered a QB expert and some believe the poor QB play last season was in part due to the lack of a dedicated QB coach. Whether it's making sure Feeley is given every chance to develop, or trying to maximize Jay's strengths while minimizing his weaknesses, Trestman is considered to be one of the best at the job.

The challenge will come in at the end of the season. As the Post points out, he's essentially over-qualified to be a QB coach, and we're likely to see some other team hire him at the end of the season unless there is a better position available for him in Miami.

My guess is this is one of several decisions that will be determined by the team's performance this year. If we go into rebuild mode, the new coach may WANT to install the WCO...
