Hey guys.

I guess you can tell I'm from England. I've finally persuaded my girlfriend that a holiday in Miami during the football season is a good idea and she's agreed to come with me to a game at Dolphin Stadium. This'll fulfill a bit of a lifetime ambition for me and I'm watery eyed excited about it.

We'll probably be booking a fly drive, spending a few nights in Miami, Ft Lauderdale etc. Was just looking on some advice on where to go / stay etc.

Also, advice on when to book for. I'll be coming for two weeks and therefore a maximum of two Sundays. Man, I'd be completely distraught if we had a road and a gap those two weeks. Is there anyway of reducing that risk?

You'll have to wait for the schedule to come out in the Spring to guarantee back to back home games. Currently, we're in the middle of three at home, but that's pretty rare. I'd stay on Fort Lauderdale Beach or South Beach. During the week between games, you could drive up to Orlando or to Key West. (I recommend the Keys.) If you have kids with you, Orlando.

october and november is actually a really good time of year in florida, its usually warm, with little rain. september is still hot as a sunna

I took a peek at the Marlins schedule for Sep/Oct '09 and it looks like they alternate home and away for the final Sundays of the baseball season. This means when they are away, we will be home and vice versa. This also means it looks like the early part of our season will not contain consecutive home games or consecutive road games, which is I think what you were afraid of.

Hope this helps..

I'm from the UK also(Nortern Ireland)and i've been to Dolphins Stadium twice.....on both occasions my wife and i booked a fly drive to Orlando and drove to Miami for the weekend of the game.....we stayed in the Holiday Inn beside Calder rack....hotel was very convenient on game day....short shuttle ride to and from the stadium and as a bonus you get a great view of stadium from the sports bar on the upper floor!!

The schedule usually comes out just after the draft so there's plenty of time to plan ahead for home games....i had no bother getting tickets through ticketmaster, even when Marino was playing so i think you should be ok.
