How would you feel about the Dolphins looking into trouble players? I just read a story about Joe Mixon. Now I am not saying go and get him but UM release two players this past season who I think we should take a look at. Defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad and strong-side linebacker Jermaine Grace, they were kicked out for renting luxury cars with an IOU when I make it to the league type of deal, got into a car accident and a girlfriend told on them. They were our two best defensive players coming into the season, Grace was a beast. I think that we should take a look at these guys, I am not sure what they have been doing but Grace could be a starter while Al could develop into a stud.

You see taking cars and money that people willingly give you isn't even bothersome to anyone. I for one firmly believe that the NCAA knows which schools are actually doing it and just don't care until they decide they want to do something about it. if these guys are talented I could see us taking a mid to late round chance on a guy who has potential.

Now on the case of Joe Mixon... You should never hit a woman unless your life is seriously at risk. Fast forwarding through that whole argument the Dolphins can't afford to bring troubled individuals onto a team that is so young and wants to create a culture of winning. It sends the wrong message to both the players and fans as to what the team is about. I wouldn't be opposed if we were in a situation like N.E. or Pitt where the culture and leadership is there to handle those personalities and not lose team chemistry.

With these type of players you need to have a very established culture and need to have an organization that is strong from the Owner down. Given that Gase will only be in year 2 I think we need to avoid players like this for at least another 3/4 years. Let Gase build the franchise he wants with his type of players and then maybe you can start gambling on a players here and there like New England does.

I would much rather take a chance on an injured player in hopes he can get healthy again on a prove it contract over someone with legal baggage. Such a distraction and a hassle, one that we don't need to concern ouselves with in my opinion.

I would bring Joe Mixon in in a heartbeat if he were available, and all of the other more pressing needs were addressed. The guy is a young guy that made a bad mistake. There is not anyone on this board that could say that they did not do something in their lives that they are ashamed of. Hitting women is absolutely wrong, and I am in no way condoning it, but he is not a serial woman beater. He is a 20 something year old that should not be judged by three seconds of his life. Beyond that one incident, he did not commit any crimes that I know of. If anyone's life was under the microscope as much, they would not ever get a job. On top of that, a female genitalia grabber and womanizer is now going to be the President of the United States...Just saying.

No one is complaining about Tyreek Hill's baggage after he lit the league on fire as a rookie in 2016. Maybe the Chiefs "sold their souls" for touchdowns, but fans get pretty forgiving when troubled players win you games.

Ya, lets see what Rolando McClain and Aldon Smith are up to. Maybe Ross could bribe the league office and get some of these guys reinstated.

Quadin Muhammadi is a stud and was the Canes best pass rusher before he got into trouble. I would certainly take a look at him. Like was mentioned we have a coach now that takes no **** and if Gase is ok with him so am I.
Grace was a solid LB just coming into his own. Worth a look as well seeing as how we need LB's.

Joe Mixon can go play in the street. Preferably I-95.

He should bring Tyreek Hill with him.

I think troubled players have to be looked at differently and a decision has to be made after a thorough investigation into the persons wrongs, background and post event life. If that person has football passion, hangs out with "good" people, and truly looks reformed it might be worth a shot under certain situations. Look at Dez Bryant, we blew him off but he has been fine with big D. In my opinion chronic drug or certain mental issues are huge red costly flags and have to be treated as such. More often than not up and coming NFL players aren't all boy scouts.

I normally say stay away but in certain circumstances a bad choice or two shouldn't automatically disqualify a player. That type of thinking may not progress a team as quick for a smaller payout. Idea is to buy low, sell high but it's a risky biz.

Just like injured players are hit and miss, so are cases like these. It seems sometimes injuries heal and the player gets back to form and sometimes young people learn from their mistakes and take the second opportunity and run with it.

Hill mentioned above, randy moss, Chris carter (eventually figured it out), Blount, our own laremy tunsil (although I don't consider smoking some weed in college that big a deal) but he moved on and took advantage of his opportunity but learned a financial lesson with the draft stock slide. Thats the upside just like injured players, better talent for less cost but at an elevated risk...

As you also have guys like McLain and smith mentioned above and others like randy Gregory, pacman, etc who can't step back and see the incredible opportunity they have in front of them and can't grow up quick enough before hurting the team, the fans and most of all themselves.

But you also have cases like our own dion Jordan who look like a solid young man that makes a mistake after the team pays a high cost for them but also can't get out of his own way. Heck at least we would get the benefit of a price reduction on the kids not in the league yet, by way of salary and draft.

It's a call I can see both points of view, and it's a tough one. Ultimately its risk vs reward and a vetting process. If you feel that the young man sincerely learned from his mistake and the talent vs price is a good value you take the risk. If there is even a smudge of doubt during the vetting process you let someone else give home the second chance. Also you have to have a strong locker room with some older vets to mentor these guys, show them the way. I believe that Gase has changed the culture of the locker room and he has earned my trust for now with his first year performance. So I would trust in Gase if he felt it was the right move and that he believed the culture and locker room was strong enough to deal with a potential problem child. Marcus Peters did okay...I just had him pop into my head so he gets a mention too lol.

In Gase We Trust!!! #STRAIN

Gentlemen, let's get this straight. There's a difference b/w troubled players and low-life pieces of **** that hit women.

Thank you, hit the nail on the head. They aren't troubled they're disgraces to the human race. No excuse for hitting a woman

Let's keep something in mind when talking about character issues.

Violence towards women vs. virtually all other offenses shouldn't but limped into one category about "troubled players".

I'm all for drafting a talented player who made a mistake with drugs or money, etc.

Just the same way guys like Joe Mixon and Tyreek Hill should be removed from our draft boards all together.

I don't just want to win, I want to win proudly.
