I just read in one of our illustrious local newspapers (Herald or Sun-Sentinel) that John Beck was talking to Troy Smith at one of the rookie events they were both attending.

Troy told Beck something to the effect that he shouldn't worry, just throw the ball out there, and Ginn will run and get it.

Beck told that to the reporter when they were discussing the 50 yard TD hookup in practice yesterday. Beck said it was designed as a short yardage play, Beck recalled what Troy Smith had told him, heaved it deep, and let Teddy go and get it.

Can you ever hear enough stuff like that?

Not to make comparisons, but that's also the advice that the Vikings got years ago with Randy Moss: that even if you think you're going to overthrow him, he's fast enough that he will make up the distance and get under it.

The good thing about Ginn is that he seems to be just that fast in pads with a football under his arm. And that's encouraging with the knowledge that the NFL cemetary is littered with Combine Cases.

I just wonder if GINN can contribute on special teams this year and get us to the 30-35 on 25-30% of all kickoffs will all the fans who were negative on the selection man up and apologizes?

Putting us on the 30-40 yard line instead of the 15 will turn into about 6 extra points a game on average on special team kickoffs alone!

Now if he can be used as a decoy or sparingly this year on offense while he learns that would be a MAJOR plus for the Dolphins.

Im seriously looking for us to go about 10-6 this year possibly a playoff wild-card..

I won't. To me, that's not worth a top 10 pick. He would have to have a Hester-like season to warrant a top 10 pick, and even still Hester went, what 23rd? So we get a guy who is as good as last years 23rd pick but we got him at #9? I hope he does great, I really do, I just don't know about grabbing him at #9.

Seriously though how can he be a combine case when nobody even knows what the dude runs when he's healthy?

I can tell you that in my history of following this stuff I've not seen a guy have a better reputation for speed purely off the film...and that's what it is for Ginn, purely off the film...because he's never worked out for anyone healthy. Nobody knows what his true 40 time is. They just know what they see when they pop in the OSU tapes.

Hester was just a return man and went 57th in the Draft... Ginn is a return man and a WR, that has an extra gear over Hesters speed.
