If Brady Quinn and JaMarcus Russell are taken by the ninth pick, why don't we pick Troy Smith, to me he has the mind, arm, and legs to be a great NFL QB?:dolphins:

Gators 42 - Ohio State 14.

Did you see that game?

Thats all i needed to see. He'll be a 2nd rounder. hes lucky he measured over 6 feet at the senior practices...barely..

I guess you didnt see how he was maniuplated by the florida defense, imagine what an NFL defense would do to him, If you watched that game you would have never known he won the heisman what a joke

Thoughts from the Senior Bowl chat..

Todd McShay: (2:07 PM ET ) Two QBs have really jumped out so far .. Drew Stanton and Troy Smith of Ohio State. Both players were in danger of slipping prior to the Senior Bowl but Stanton has bounced back with two very good practices and Smith has helped erase the bad memories of his national championship showing by measuring in at 6 ft. even and showing very good accuracy and arm strength during passing drills through practice.

I think he can be picked in the third round.

I can't believe one of the Troy Smith's stock is going up, in part, because he actually measures 6' tall. All the guy had to do was show up

Well, he was lucky alright, 6'0'' on the nose. However, if you visit Scott Wright's blog on www.nfldraftcountdown.com, he says that Smith has performed the best of all the QBs there this week and could work his way back up the draft boards. I'm not saying Smith will be good in the NFL, but a lot of people were pretty wary of Vince Young last year, who ended up as the OROY.

That was probably the poorest game plan I think I've ever seen my beloved Buckeyes come up with. Our O-line flat out dominated by their pass rush. Smith played poorly yes, but in the Michigan game carved up their "vaunted" D, and in particular, Leon Hall, who is mostly touted as the #1 DB in the draft. I don't think you can pin that all on Troy Smith.

the difference between young and troy smith is young is more mobile, has a better arm, is 6 inches taller, faster.....teams were wary of young because he played out of the shotgun, but you cannot teach troy smith how to be tall

With this same mind-set, would you say John David Booty is a stellar QB? HE also carved up Michigan, and made Leon Hall look like a second tier CB.

I keep hearing about how strong Smith's arm is. Maybe, in drills when he is standing still or taking the preferred three steps to throw, but in that Florida game, is was painfull how weak his arm looked. Even when he was trying to throw the ball away

Third or fourth round maybe, but I think we take an one of his O-lineman in the third instead.

Troy Smith is the fastest and most mobile QB in this draft class. I wouldn't compare his style to Vince Young, obviously he's a rare talent, but for the sake of QB play - a lot of people on the board were clamoring Young wasn't good enough/smart enough, what have you, to play QB in the NFL and believed he should've switched to WR. I'm simply saying, like Young, there's certain things you don't like about Smith, obviously his 6'0" height being the main point, but the man is still a Heisman winner, and he strikes me in the mold of a Drew Brees style, maybe not as strong of an arm as Brees, but his mobility is good enough to make up for that.

tall aint all its cracked up to be i can think of a few qb's who werent tall how about Flutie or this little known guy Joe Montana:eek:
