True Fans want us to lose

One thing with the CBA is that top 5 picks do not carry the same finanical burden that they did during the last agreement. So picking high IMO got even better. I was always hesitant with that top 3 pick because of the guaranteed money. If you look at the top 5 pick to stud NFL QB ratio in this league a pick in the 10-15 range is not too bad of a thing. Bad thing is we seem to be spending our picks on lineman vs playmakers. This argument can then be drawn up anyway. What good are playmakers if you can't win in the trenches? And vise versa. I will never root for my team to lose. And picking in the mediocre range is not as bad as many suggest if you make good picks.

The worst thing we can do is go 9-7 or 8-8 or worse 7-9 that means a new coaching staff comes in and we have a mid round pick. We are not winning this year and that is a fair assessment after not beating a division rival in the pats. Root for losses so we can draft one of the prized qb's in round 1. lets face it we will have a new regime in here next year and henne will be gone. THE DOOR WILL HIT HIM AND SPARANO'S *** ON THE WAY OUT. :D:hclap:

I'm skeptical about Sparano and Ireland turning things around, but you lost me when you tried to tell people how to be a "true fan". Most of the fans on both sides of the issue are true fans.

How can you say Henne has proven himself after one game
The same can be said how will you prove that intentionally losing will bring absolute success in the future? There are plenty of draft picks and coaches that don't pan out, so unless you can predict the future I say we keep trying to win

No, the difference with those teams is that they are already good teams. They are competitive teams right now and the Dolphins aren't. He is saying if the Dolphins finish at 7-9 or 8-8, it probably will hurt them more in the long run than finishing 3-13 and I agree with him. I mean what is the difference of finishing 3-13 or 8-8 if it doesn't get you in the playoffs anyways? At least at 3-13, you would possibly have the first pick in next year's draft and a chance at a franchise quarterback that could be around for 15 years. If you finish at 7-9 or 8-8, your stuck in the same old situation you have been stuck at. Not good enough for the playoffs or bad enough to get a real impact player in the draft. We have seen that movie way too much over the last decade and it hasn't worked out too well. He is basically saying he is sick of rooting for an average team every year and so am I.
You don't think we're ALL tired of rooting for an average team year in and year out?! We've had chances in the past to get players that could turn the franchise around and didn't do it, so what makes you think we will finally get it right or the year after that given the past history?

Man, this sucks. I'm REALLY not a true fan. I don't want us to lose, but I don't think we're a playoff team and I don't think Sparano and Co. can cut it, so I'm not a true fan because of that either. I'm not a "true fan" according to both sides of the crazy spectrum. Does it help that I'm drinking out of a Dolphins mug at the moment?

I hate seeing the Dolphins lose, but the guy does have somewhat of a point. A 7-9, or 8-8 record would not help this team at all in an attempt to aquire a franchise quarterback. If there was ever a year to "tank" for a franchise QB, this is the one.

I'd rather be 8-8 than 3-13. Getting a top 5 draft pick isn't all it's cracked up to be. Certain teams that always seem to draft high still suck. I'd rather stick it to the Jets and Pats than tank our season.

So you would rather be 8-8? That's like pissing in the wind. I would rather be 12-4 and have a dominant team. But 8-8 or 3-13 your splitting hairs because your not getting into the playoffs either way.

Well the first step would be to have a new GM and coach that knows what they are doing. These clowns they have now aren't getting the job done and don't have a clue how to get it done.

Pissing in the wind? No. That would be like tanking a season to draft a top 5 bust.

Going 3-13 means you are bad enough to suck for YEARS, not just one season. You will need several drafts to rebuild after 3-13, and I'm not interested in waiting years to become competitive again.

We can go 15-0 and win our division, stranger things have happened. Keep the faith...!
