True Fans want us to lose

Pissing in the wind? No. That would be like tanking a season to draft a top 5 bust.

Going 3-13 means you are bad enough to suck for YEARS, not just one season. You will need several drafts to rebuild after 3-13, and I'm not interested in waiting years to become competitive again.

Your totally wrong on that point. The Dolphins went from 1-15 in 2007 to 11-5 in 2008. They went from having the 1st pick in the draft to winning the division the very next year. That right there proves you can turn it around in one season and doesn't mean you suck for years if your drafting high. I have seen plenty of teams turn it around in one year too. It seems to happen quite a bit in the NFL compared to the other sports.

The worst thing we can do is go 9-7 or 8-8 or worse 7-9 that means a new coaching staff comes in and we have a mid round pick. We are not winning this year and that is a fair assessment after not beating a division rival in the pats. Root for losses so we can draft one of the prized qb's in round 1. lets face it we will have a new regime in here next year and henne will be gone. THE DOOR WILL HIT HIM AND SPARANO'S *** ON THE WAY OUT. :D:hclap:
You know what? Walk on out the door you came through. Because to be quite honest, we have enough idiots on this board without adding another one. Seriously, GTFO!!!

To think we could go 3-13 and turn around and win our division the following year, is just foolish. Tom Brady wont be out for the season again. The Jets and Bills got a lot better, and we wont be playing the easiest schedule in the league again. To want this team to go 1-15 again, get a top draft pick, hope he's not a bust, and then make a deep playoff run the following year is probably the stupidest idea I've ever seen on this board.

A good to great QB definitely can make a difference - but just ask the folks in the Big Easy who rooted long and hard for the 2nd best Manning (Archie) just how much it did for them. (and that's assuming a great, highly touted college QB even ends up more like Archie than like Tim Couch, etc)

Well my point is the Dolphins still went 11-5 the year after going 1-15 making your point about drafting high and sucking for years not true. I don't care what kind of schedule they had or Tom Brady being out that year, they still did it. Based on your theory, they should have been around 4-12 or 5-11 in 2008. Let me ask you this, would you rather see the Dolphins be bad for a year or two with a chance to be great down the road or stuck at 7-9 or 8-8 year after year for the next decade? To me its a no brainer, I would rather see them with a chance to be great down the road instead being stuck in neutral all the time. I look at a team like the Lions and the high draft picks they have gotten in recent years, its starting to pay off for them. It doesn't hurt that they finally have a front office and head coach that knows what they are doing either. The Dolphins lack that at the moment.

No, the difference with those teams is that they are already good teams. They are competitive teams right now and the Dolphins aren't. He is saying if the Dolphins finish at 7-9 or 8-8, it probably will hurt them more in the long run than finishing 3-13 and I agree with him. I mean what is the difference of finishing 3-13 or 8-8 if it doesn't get you in the playoffs anyways? At least at 3-13, you would possibly have the first pick in next year's draft and a chance at a franchise quarterback that could be around for 15 years. If you finish at 7-9 or 8-8, your stuck in the same old situation you have been stuck at. Not good enough for the playoffs or bad enough to get a real impact player in the draft. We have seen that movie way too much over the last decade and it hasn't worked out too well. He is basically saying he is sick of rooting for an average team every year and so am I.

How can you say this team won't improve from mediocrity after one game?

because its been 8 years of mediocrity

Worst thread I have seen in 3 years

Haven't been here as long as you but i believe you. This has to be the craziest thread i've read' so far. Ive seen the idea before but it is amazing that ppl actually believe this bullsh**. When did losing become the smart thing to do? Bunch of Morons. Id prefer a winning record this season vs sucking for luck anyday. Sure lets lose the rest of our games and get a high draft pick. Draft a QB and get rid of Sparano. WTF! Then start all over again?! We did it in 08 but that doesnt mean its going to happen EVERY time. We went from 1-15 to 11-5 WITH the help of Coach Sparano and CO. You have to give credit where credit is due. Why is everyone so sure Sparano cant take us to the playoffs again? Any real phin had his back in 08 especially with that previous playoff drought. Two 7-9 seasons and everyone jumps ship. This is why ppl talk about our fanbase. We have so many puss* fans throwing up their white flags. After one game i hear fans calling it quits! Cmon man! Run with us or get run over. MIA dont breed cowards.

Go Phins!

It's not that no one gets what your trying to say but if you can honestly say you sat watching that Monday night game rooting for the Patriots or you are anxious to see the Texans pull out a win Sunday than you are not a fan at all.

I don't understand the narrow minded, vacuum vision here :idk: Sure drafting high more guarantees you get a franchise guy, but there is such a thing as trading up also, and we've got some desirable player components beyond future draft picks to do just that. Just ask TB and Baltimore how that worked out? Also ask Cleveland (twice) how going QB with the top picks worked out.

As a dolphin fan I ALWAYS ROOT FOR A WIN, but i can careless this season for a loss. what happened this off season was insulting to fans this team keeps moving backwards and staying 7-9 to 8-8 every year and not making that leap to greatness is frustrating.
Sparano is gone no matter what next year and we are not making the playoffs. Any new regime coming in next year is going to want their players and own people. Which means Henne is gone as well. i WOULD MUCH RATHER SEE US TAKE A CHANCE ON A TOP PICK QB THAN KEEP DRAFTING 15TH AND CONTINUE TO BE A 3RD TIER TEAM IN THIS LEAGUE

I couldn't agree with you more. Most of the people on here that aren't agreeing with your point of view aren't looking at the big picture and what's best for this franchise long term.

Don't count on that.

Dumbest post ever. The "Suck for Luck" sweepstakes does not work that way. You have to be genuinely bad, not intentionally.

You try telling a locker room full of athletic Alpha Males to play poorly intentionally.

- If you think a bunch of players playing for their livelihood are going to look bad for a season (and thus negatively affect their future salaries/contracts), you need to get a clue.

- If you think a bunch of players are going to intentionally play bad in the cutthroat business of the NFL so your franchise gets a great QB, you need to get a clue. If a player decides to play poorly so Luck will be on his team next year, he will probably not be around to play with Luck because he will get cut or traded because he played like crap.

- If you think a bunch of NFL veterans in their twilight years are going to give up "just one season" to get a great QB that can help them win a SB, you need to get a clue. Drafting Andrew Luck is not a guarantee of a SB victory; a veteran player will not give up one season to draft Luck, THEN give up one or two more seasons for Luck to develop into an elite QB. By that time a vet will be on another team or out of the league.

Seriously now...
