True Fans want us to lose

Only since Ross took over have we been one of the worst franchises in the league. Wayne was continually ranked one of the top 10 owners the entire time he was here. He always hovered around 6 - 8 or so. He was a good owner that wanted to win more than the current buffoon we have. Could wayne had made better decisions? Yes, but he always and honestly tried to build a winner. Ross on the other hand is more concerned with the circus show than he is the actual sport of football. I would like to see some current rankings. I bet we are right around 27-29.

I disagree. Wayne wasn't that great of owner either. It all started with allowing Dave Wannstedt to take over for Jimmy Johnson and letting him have control of personnel too. Just look at the draft picks the Dolphins made when Wanny was in charge. It was brutal. This team has really never recovered from that debacle a decade ago.

I can't believe this thread has gotten to 8 pages already.

You NEVER play to lose I don't care who you are or what sport it is. Playing to lose is for losers. Besides, there's not a single grain of assurance that Luck is NOT going to be a bust.

i would rather take the chance with drafting luck than HENNE

This is a troll thread, plain and simple.

You don't get it, its not about playing to lose, it's about not having a good enough team to win. This team isn't good enough right now to win consistently. As far as Luck goes, I think he is going to be a great quarterback at the NFL level. He has the leadership and IT factor it takes to succeed at the next level. You can't teach that. You either have it or you don't and he has it.

I DO get it and it's still plain stupid. No amount of explanation is going to change that. Just take this loser argument somewhere else, please. A lot of players have had the "it" factor coming out of college and all that BS, and turned out to be busts. You cannot guarantee the success of a player at the professional level nowadays.

You clearly missed the at worst part at the end of my post. I think the team will be closer to 10-6 or 9-7. The fact is any team can go on a run which is why I would rather be 7-7 with 2 weeks left and a chance at a possible wildcard. Lets consider the alternative, being 5-11 with the 3rd or 4th overall pick and still not in the Luck hunt. How is that a better scenario?

And I absolutely disagree about the teams you mentioned being better. I hope when you said better shape you meant the franchise and not the team itself. There is no way any of the four teams you listed is better talent wise, however, I will agree that those organizations have shown improvement.

You know, I'll give the OP some credit. There was a time where I thought the Dolphins best bet was to bottom out and start from scratch. And they did, twice, in 2004 and 2007. Where are we now? What did we gain from that? One playoff appearance? Clearly this strategy doesn't work.

Why don't we just root for the team we have to win the games they are playing?

I disagree, people with the IT factor don't turn out to be busts. Ya there are busts that come out of the draft every year, but those players don't have the IT factor. What I mean by the IT factor is intangibles that you can't teach. It's not based on talent alone. It might mean a guy that overachieves based on his ability. I look at a guy like Mark Sanchez and he has the IT factor. He might not be the most talented quarterback around, but he has leadership skills and knows how to win. I feel that way about Tim Tebow and Cam Newton too. Now when you have the IT factor with talent, the sky is the limit. I see that with Luck. We will just have to see if I am right or not on him down the road.

It could work if you had the right people in charge that knew what they were doing. It goes back to the organization and making mistake after mistake. That's why we are one of the worst franchises in the NFL right now.

What suggests to you that things will go right this time? Are we just going to hope third time's a charm?

Well it would start with bringing in a new GM and head coach that knows what they are doing and how to build a team the right way. If that happens, then I think we would be on the right path. If the same people that are in charge now stay, I would say there is no hope.

Who is the right coach to you. Cowher, Gruden?

well cowher did take his team to the playoffs in 11 out of his 15 seasons...i think thats a step up from anything we have had in the past 10 years.

Cowher did win his division for 9 of those 15 years. Thats a step up too...

Cowher was smart enough to build with a FRICKEN QB...

Those two guys wouldn't be bad choices. I wouldn't even mind seeing a situation where they bring in a front office guy from a successful franchise to be the GM and let that person hire the coach. Maybe like a young coordinator.
