Well The Sports Network has given out their official pre-season predictions, including who they think will be MVP (Tony Romo) and who will be the first qb to lose his job (Brodie Croyle) The Dolphins are mentioned twice:
TEAM THAT REALLY WILL BE THAT BAD
Miami. The Dolphins brain trust of Bill Parcells, Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano has treated their reclamation project of this once-proud franchise as if they're operating an expansion team. And, while we believe that approach is a necessary evil that will eventually yield positive results, many wins don't look to be in the Fins' near future. The starting lineup is almost exclusively rookies and veteran castoffs, and watching them play together is going to resemble a bad Burt Reynolds movie in 2008.
FIRST-YEAR HEAD COACH WITH NO SHOT
Tony Sparano, Miami. Sparano is a sharp guy and the best coach the Dolphins have had since Jimmy Johnson, but some amalgam of Johnson, Don Shula, and Knute Rockne couldn't even shape this Miami team into an instant winner. Chad Pennington has no one of note to throw to, the o-line is a young, patchwork group, and there isn't a genuine leader on the defense now that Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas are gone. Still, they'll win more than one game, so that's progress.
I completely disagree with all of this. Every team has a shot at making the playoffs. This is not like MLB. We are definally not as bad as last year, and not as bad as people around the nation think we will be. I have no doubt that we could be just as good as the Jets next week, if not better.
