First of all, don't flame me, this is a legitimate question. Tua has been playing lights out since he's been back but yesterday, he was really off. What was the temperature yesterday, low 60s high 50s? Is it a coincidence that this was his first "cold weather" game this year and he played horribly? Do colder temps affect him that much?

I have questions about Tua being able to perform in bad weather games but I would hardly call yesterday’s game a cold weather game. The temps were pretty mild for the most part and no rain. I think it was more of a mental thing with him yesterday. He had no Armstead and was worried about the Niners pass rush. It got in his head I believe.

That's what I'm asking. Do you think with temps as mild as they were yesterday, that it still affected him? Armstead being out sucked for sure but he wasn't under constant pressure. When he had time to throw, he was missing wide open receivers. My point is, if that weather affected him, we are in serious trouble

When you're on the field running around, high 50's or low 60's is the ideal temperature to play. IMO, the weather had no negative impact on the game whatsoever.

Tua was off all day, plain and simple. He was in his own head, missing wide open receivers that he would hit countless times throughout this season. Not sure what was going on with him yesterday. He just had an off day.

The weather yesterday was about the same as the Chicago game and Tua played great in that game. For some reason he **** the bed yesterday and I believe it was a mental thing. Now when they play at Buffalo in two weeks I expect bad weather so that will be a true test for Tua.

Honestly, I’m more concerned about high pressure games.

Cincinatti, Thursday night, had been the worst performance of the season until that point and was the infamous concussion game.

Pittsburgh, Sunday night, playing vs Brian Flores. Mediocre performance .

And now, San Francisco, playing vs his HC’s previous team, after the “we actually have a QB” remarks. Worst game of the season.

Arguably his 3 worse performances of the season came in “high pressure, eyes are on me” games. Hope this does not become a trend.

It was obvious as the game played out that we can't run the ball... Tua needed to execute with perfection... maybe he realized in order to win it was all on him.
This team isn't well rounded and is one dimensional on offense... Tua won't be able to overcome that flaw against a playoff caliber team especially with the defense allowing TOP to be in favor of the opposing team.

Ya he still has to prove he can perform in those type of games. So far he hasn't shown it. Let's see how he performs this upcoming Sunday night against the Chargers. I hope it's better than the Steelers game.

I think too much has been made of Tua in cold weather. The loss to the 49ers qas more due to Tua not playing well against a great defense. Just like last year's loss at Tennessee and Buffalo. Yesterday's weather looked fine to me, likely no colder than it was in Chicago when we beat the Bears.

Yeah, the Chargers game is going to be another of those “eyes on me” games with the media hyping up Tua vs Herbert.

Tua's played on the national stage in college. He can handle it. Yesterday he was off which is allowed with a player.

Good point. I will say this, he thrived on those kinds of games in college AND his stats this season on 3rd down, 4th quarter, and red zone are completely amazing (all high pressure type scenarios). But yeah, it is concerning...

And I think he was good in the 4th quarter, we just had two crucial drops which were only drops after replay.

Great point. But it's odd... Pretty much all of his games at Alabama were "look at me" games yet he played lights out, for the most part. I suppose the difference could be the level of competition was much wider in college but it's not a good sign that he's had some of his worst moments when the lights are on him the brightest.
