Tua and his agent might not have wanted a 5th year. Because in 5 years a contract for a starting QB in the NFL is going to be for a lot more than the contracts now. In 5 years his next contract could be worth $70 million a year.

I think limiting the contract to 4 years is a win win for both sides. That gives the Dolphins an earlier exit ramp while allowing Tua to hit the market a year earlier.
