Tua Tagovailoa’s improvement is evident at Miami Dolphins training camp

Most of us who aren't sold don't hate him. We just don't think his skill set translates to success in today's NFL.

If he's successful thats even better, but expecting practice to change someone's mind is silly.
That’s about the dumbest comment I’ve read on this board in a long time. And what skill set does not exactly translate into the the NFL???

I'm capable of having an opinion on his personality separate from his play. I never said i hated him either, just given th choice he isn't the type of person I'd want to hang out with or be around
To insinuate otherwise is mildly insulting.
Zero bias there lol

No I knew that. I just couldn’t resist taking a shot at Wentz.
He's going to play 75% of the games/snaps whatever just so the Eagles won't get the 1st rounder.

He is a perfect example of mucking things up until you get traded. Ignoring playcalls...switching from playcalls that would work to playcalls that were doomed.

If he can do this and get out then anybody (Howard) can do the same thing.

The Eagles get a first rounder if he plays 75% of their snaps. It doesn't appear that's likely. It's a second rounder otherwise.

Why would he want to play 75% of the plays to help Philly get a first?

Pride comes to mind. If he proves the Eagles were wrong (by performing at an elite level) it would probably be quite satisfying.

I meant 74%.

In fairness too myself, I was dubious about drafting him. (reality=1, Ray=0)

When we did draft him, I wanted him to sit out the first year and fully heal up. (reality =1, Ray =0)

When he played, I rooted for him to win. (no contest)

I'm looking forward to watching him develop and help lead this team to the Superbowl. (based on probability and statistics, Ray is due a win - LOL)
I’m rooting for you Ray to get that win!

Being critical of Tua’s rookie year doesn’t mean a fan wants him to fail…it just means it was less than spectacular!

No player is untouchable from critique!

I made the case several times over the past several months why Tua will significantly improve this year.

I thought Tua significantly improving this year was as predictable as it would be hot during training camp in Miami.

True.

What bothers me the most is when performance is measured out of context.

An example would be a runner who didn't rack up as many yards as a more prominent runner. When further examined the runner with the fewest yards also played in the fewest games due to injury. It's not impossible that the actual yards per play were nearly identical, but that wasn't considered in the initial comparison.

Let's face it, runners get beat up a lot and have injuries during the year. I imagine a good offensive line to run behind might help reduce the number of overwhelming tackles, but that's not part of the stats used to make comparisons.

I hope you see what I'm getting at. The glaringly obvious has holes in it as often as not. I think I'll coin a term here and refer to those focused on those statistics without context as "Flat Earthers".

It makes sense from my point of view, they cant see beyond the horizon, so that's that! - LOL

Seems to me Tua is very much a "system dependent" QB unlike superior talents like Marino or Rodgers. Not a knock on the kid -- just stating the obvious that everything needs to be optimized around him (and his skill set) for him to be highly productive. At least this is what I hope -- his production will increase significantly as the coaching staff implements the "system" around him and the FO brings in talent that is also complimentary. Pretty obvious we are doing this right now in an aggressive manner -- meaning the org is "all in" with this kid and are going to do everything they can to support him and elevate his game. The rest is 100% up to Tua. He still has to perform, be highly efficient and put points on the board consistently. And that's the key word IMO -- consistency. If the kid can develop consistency and sustain drives more often than not (stay away from 3 and outs and of course turnovers) we're going in the right direction. Of course we need some big plays from our skill players and I think we have the talent to do that.
Sort of like how bill walsh said joe Montana was a system QB. In that regard I guess Mahomes is a system qb too. Idk, Mahomes is the best qb in football but he looked pretty pedestrian in the SB without his system around him
