Tua Tagovailoa and Lamar Jackson play the quarterback position differently to try and accomplish the same goal.

I hope you were sitting down for that expert observation of Tua and Lamar Jackson. It takes a keen eye to notice that Tua and Lamar play quarterback in different ways to each other.

And the thing is, regardless of how many talking heads get in line to say that that the way Lamar Jackson and others who play like him are the only way you can win in this league anymore, history especially recent history shows that being a quarterback that just about only throws from the pocket can win Lombardi trophies which is the ultimate goal in case you forgot.

This isn't to say that the style of Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen can't win enough games in a row to win a Super Bowl. They absolutely can. I'm just saying that being a pocket passer shouldn't be deemed as a knock on a guy.

Matt Stafford, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, and others have won Super Bowls over the last 15 years or so and those guys didn't leave the pocket at all except for Roethlisberger here and there.

Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers are the rare exceptions of guys that can run when everything breaks down but they also can pick you apart, surgically, from the pocket all day long if needed.

And it's that phrase "When the play breaks down or off-script" that is in the running for football phrase of the year. Pass winners of that award are RPO, and zero blitz. It seems that you can only be considered an elite QB if you're great at when everything crumbles around you and you can still make a productive play.

I'm not going to lie, I wish Tua had more of an ability to get flushed outside the pocket, keep a play alive with his legs, and hit a guy down the sideline for 45 yards in stride like Josh Allen did to Gabe Davis against the Chargers. Tua isn't likely to ever pull that off and that's okay.

It's okay because I don't think Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson, for an entire game, be able to hit those in-breaking routes over and over again. Sure, they physically can make those throws. No one argues that. I'm saying, can they do it all game long and only miss about two of them because that's what Tua is asked to do every game and typically he does just that.

We've seen games where he does miss a few more than usual and that's usually when the Dolphins struggle. But I've also seen games where Jackson relies too much on his running ability where he doesn't execute the play that was called which we find was executed well only to leave yards and plays on the field.

It does not take a keen eye to see the difference of play between Lamar and Tua, lol.

Lamar in all of his post-season appearances has not been very successful. Hope that continues this year as well.

Tua does not seem to do as well at off script plays, but that's fine. Take what you can, and live for the next opportunity. He's a tremendous pocket passer with elite pocket presence and accuracy.

This Ravens team is very good, but they can be beat. Several of their wins this year have been against back up QBs

I don't know that it takes a keen eye to notice the vast differences in their game style. It's fairly glaring.

The person ends by saying the Ravens and Dolphins are playing for the #1 seed. That’s not accurate.

The Ravens are playing for the #1 seed and the Dolphins are playing to still have a chance at becoming the #1 seed.

I feel it would be more fair to say that Tua isn't coached to do more off script. There are risks to running off script. So much of this Miami offense runs on executing a plan flawlessly to the extent that teams can't defend adequately because we're throwing passes to routes that haven't even materialized on a premise of where a dude is gonna be as opposed to waiting for that to develop. Once you go off script, everybody is running around doing the crazy. lol

Right. The Dolphins are still playing to lock down the AFC East. It ain't settled yet. They still need to take care of the business and not become a visitor going into the playoffs.

once again the big game portrait as this QB vs the other QB but in reality, Tua will go against the ravens defense and Jackson will go against the Dolphins defense......people always want to make it about the QB vs the QB but it's all dumb cause they don’t play against each other. If the team with the better QB would win every time then Marino would have won about 12 SB's

lamar appears to be having an excellent season. i don't watch much ravens football. good for him. he is a local boy.

i take tua over lamar as my quarterback 24/7, 365. not even a question or hesitation.

i am on record as calling lamar fool's gold.

endless wins in the regular season. but that's about it.

One is hard to tackle and the other dives on the ground when a hand touches them...hmmmm

One is a much better pure passer than the other.....hmmmmmmm

Both have weapons at WR, one with multiple weapons and one with one superior weapon but not so good complimentary receivers.

One will win on Sunday and one will lose on Sunday.......

Fins Up Baby!!!!!!!!

as i have said in the GameDay thread (and many other places on here), getting Tua on the move is a recipe for success.

when he moves off the spot and either throws downfield or to Smythey in the flat, that sh\t is deadly.

he looks extremely smooth executing on the move. i can't really remember a muff, or a pressure, or an incompletion the very very few times we have done it.

(yes, i am aware that it takes away half of the field when he does that. who cares. the defense doesn't know that before hand, and a completion is a completion).

If the Dolphins win on Sunday, they are technically the #1 seed going into week 18.

Technically, BAL is still playing for their division.
