Tua vs Lamar

What I want to add, this game, Tua needs to hit open passes in the red zone even if he gets pressure. Miami can't settle for fgs this time and missed opportunities vs the ravens. Tua is so accurate but this happens and idk why. He was missing passes he usually makes. I know pressure makes a qb speed up, but he has to be able to step and make the pass with pressure. This wil happen especially vs good teams and in the playoffs.
So easy to say. He had 1 starter on the OL in the last game(s). Compare that to film from the Chargers game. Crazy how much he had at times

I'm not worried about Lamar passing! He's is not a passer but if you let his running ability open up the game he will throw it on you! Hope old Vic's got a game plan for him!

He’s a pretty darn good passer. Time for people to acknowledge that.

I would argue Orlovsky and Baldinger have been those guys for Tua
I’ve listened to all of them, its not what I think is detailed enough to what he’s doing, the detailed nuance

Sure they say “hes getting g rid of the ball so fast”, “he anticipates so well”, “he’s so accurate “

That stuff just touches on the surface

Gttoot.

Closest to what youre asking for is Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, JT O'Sullivan, and Orlovski to name a few. The only thing left out is truly saying or pushing the issue that his skillset is seperate from others. I mean, they do mention it, but its not really a focus.
They are always blown away by his anticipation.

Tua Tagovailoa and Lamar Jackson play the quarterback position differently to try and accomplish the same goal.

I hope you were sitting down for that expert observation of Tua and Lamar Jackson. It takes a keen eye to notice that Tua and Lamar play quarterback in different ways to each other.

And the thing is, regardless of how many talking heads get in line to say that that the way Lamar Jackson and others who play like him are the only way you can win in this league anymore, history especially recent history shows that being a quarterback that just about only throws from the pocket can win Lombardi trophies which is the ultimate goal in case you forgot.

This isn't to say that the style of Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen can't win enough games in a row to win a Super Bowl. They absolutely can. I'm just saying that being a pocket passer shouldn't be deemed as a knock on a guy.

Matt Stafford, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, and others have won Super Bowls over the last 15 years or so and those guys didn't leave the pocket at all except for Roethlisberger here and there.

Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers are the rare exceptions of guys that can run when everything breaks down but they also can pick you apart, surgically, from the pocket all day long if needed.

And it's that phrase "When the play breaks down or off-script" that is in the running for football phrase of the year. Pass winners of that award are RPO, and zero blitz. It seems that you can only be considered an elite QB if you're great at when everything crumbles around you and you can still make a productive play.

I'm not going to lie, I wish Tua had more of an ability to get flushed outside the pocket, keep a play alive with his legs, and hit a guy down the sideline for 45 yards in stride like Josh Allen did to Gabe Davis against the Chargers. Tua isn't likely to ever pull that off and that's okay.

It's okay because I don't think Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson, for an entire game, be able to hit those in-breaking routes over and over again. Sure, they physically can make those throws. No one argues that. I'm saying, can they do it all game long and only miss about two of them because that's what Tua is asked to do every game and typically he does just that.

We've seen games where he does miss a few more than usual and that's usually when the Dolphins struggle. But I've also seen games where Jackson relies too much on his running ability where he doesn't execute the play that was called which we find was executed well only to leave yards and plays on the field.
There’s the mental and then there is the physical aspects to the game. Lamar beats the pass rush by using his electric athletic gifts to scramble and either run for big chunks of yards or keep plays alive playground style and it can be a nightmare to defend and is breath taking to watch.

Tua uses his superior vision, timing, and anticipation to release the ball quickly, deliver it accurately, and exploit weaknesses in coverage which makes him hard to sack and is why we call him the Samoan sniper. He’s an assassin.
Also difficult to defend.

Because we only see the end result but can’t visually see all of the mental acuity that goes into that whole process on every throw, it often isn’t as visually obvious in terms of how amazing it is.

What it does do however is age well. One day Lamar will not be what he is physically, and his game will be different as a result, probably not as dangerous or as good. Tua on the other hand, should continue to get better as his isn’t reliant upon physical gifts.

Just a thought…

The person ends by saying the Ravens and Dolphins are playing for the #1 seed. That’s not accurate.

The Ravens are playing for the #1 seed and the Dolphins are playing to still have a chance at becoming the #1 seed.
I thought if the dolphins win out, they are #1?

So shouldn't it be the other way around?

Also,if we beat the Ravens and we lose to bills but the ravens lose to Steelers, don't we have #1 seed?

I know, but Tua misses these vs the ravens, miami is not winning

To me, the blueprint is well established to throw off our offense. Plays the receivers very physically, with two safeties over the top. Make the refs throw a lot of flags - or start ignoring the holding. Put your best DL resources into pushing the middle of the pocket back.

We haven’t had a reliable answer for it. That is why Philly and Buffalo gave us so much trouble.

I don’t understand why we aren’t running pick plays until they back off - but what do I know. It only got NE 6 championships.

once again the big game portrait as this QB vs the other QB but in reality, Tua will go against the ravens defense and Jackson will go against the Dolphins defense......people always want to make it about the QB vs the QB but it's all dumb cause they don’t play against each other. If the team with the better QB would win every time then Marino would have won about 12 SB's
Great point.

Only if the Browns also lose.

We need to win our last 2 to ensure we get the 1 seed. We "Could" still get the 1 seed if the Ravens and Browns lose next week.

But we have to win tomorrow.
