Bored Monday afternoon research project:

Stafford d Burrow
Brady d Mahomes
Mahomes d Garoppolo
Brady d Goff
Foles d Brady
Brady d Ryan
Manning d Newton
Brady d Wilson
Wilson d Manning
Flacco d Kaepernick

With the exception of Brady and Mahomes, not one of these QBs is "franchise elite". Foles was a backup. Ryan is on another team after choking away his chance. Goff, ditto. Newton is probably mowing someones grass. Wilson should be mowing grass. Manning had to be propped up with an exo-skeleton in that game. Flacco? Really?

My point is this, plugging in a generational elite talent and riding that horse to multiple championships almost never happens (Brady, MJ, Tiger). Stop pretending replacing Tua is the magic bullet, and fix the rest of it. starting with the 3rd down defense. Tua is more than capable of winning a Super Bowl. In fact, what I'm seeing on the winners list is that if you don't have Brady or Mahomes, you need an elite defense to win a SB. Imagine that.

This just shows how overrated a QB is to winning a SB. I mean Marino only made it to 1 SB and he didn’t play great in that game. It’s a team sport. He had Duper and Clayton but those three alone can’t even lead a team to a championship. People need to blame somebody so it’s always going to be the “face of the franchise”

I agree. If we had a little bit better health on defense, I think we would be in a different spot right now. I know all teams have injuries, but our defense has been straight up crushed. We cant stop good QBs when it matters most.

I think we also have not made adjustments well on both sides of the ball. I think McDaniel will learn, but Boyer's time is running out...

The most important key is having solid qb play on a cheap contract. This allows you to build a complete team. Unfortunately with a bottom 5 defense, we do not have a complete team.

Good perspective.

Looking at the personnel, the secondary has been the biggest issue this year. A major reason for that has been injuries.

If he keeps getting concussions this is all moot

I was having trouble posting. I wanted to add that special teams have also been a problem. And I agree with you. Miami needs a legitimate middle linebacker.

I don't see Tua as the problem. But he also needs to improve in some ways.
St has been terrible, have to get better

Like…making plays when it matters , not throwing 3 consecutive interceptions to end a close loss…yes that would be some ways he might help the team not lose.

This team is far from perfect and certainly not a complete team, especially with the injuries.

But, this GM has gone about as far as he can go to load talent around Tua and give him the super-talent he enjoyed at Alabama…, when he almost won national championships his last two full years as a starter.

Tyreek hill and Jalen Waddle…? Any QB would dream of having that to work with!

We can make all the excuses we want too for his failure in 3 out of the last 4 games….but it boils down too Miami wins if he plays well!

He is the QB, and that is what should be expected……

I don’t expect him to win a Super Bowl without a complete team…but I do expect a QB to make the plays in close games, with mediocre teams like Green Bay, at home,…to win it!

Aaron Rodgers next year and we're in the Super Bowl. Go get him. This team is built to be led by it's offense the same way the Chiefs or the Chargers are. So **** defense, they've held their own at times, not to mention, we'll get our injured defensive pieces back next year.

Get A-Rod down here and we'll be the Chiefs-South

Hard to when I super bowl when you are always injured. Tua can’t make it 17 games, no way he makes it to a super bowl.

Tell Cincy fans Burrow isn’t elite. And just using ur most recent example, last season the Rams won it all with no Brady or Mahomes and a very average middle of the road defense. Statistically speaking. Yes they had some elite talent like Donald and Ramsey etc. But their D overall was ranked right around the middle point of all 32 teams. Also, last year the Bills had an “elite” #1 defense and a very good QB in Allen and they still lost in the 2nd round.

We don’t need an elite D to win it all. We need a QB who can SUSTAIN drives to give our D some rest, instead of sending them out there after turning the ball over like Tua did Sunday. Not to mention a QB who can stay healthy for a full season. He’s played one good game this month. That’s not acceptable. And u probably can’t name a single game where he played well with playoffs on the line. Maybe that Buffalo game a couple weeks back that I just mentioned but that’s about it. Not good enough at this stage of his career.
