### CBS lead NFL analyst Phil Simms, who works his first Dolphins game of the season Thursday, said by phone Monday that Ryan Tannehill “so far this year has won me over. I definitely notice a difference. I’ve been really, really impressed; he’s finding the right guys, throwing in rhythm, he looks stronger. And what really impresses me is he is more natural and really letting the ball go.”

Simms now believes Tannehill can be an above average NFL starting quarterback.

But even though he likes Tannehill’s ability to run the read option, he cautions that when an opponent “is fairly good and they’re ready for it, it’s useless. It’s a good thing but I wouldn’t want to see a steady diet” because of the injury risk.

### Simms likes this Dolphins team and “was fairly impressed with how they adjusted” Sunday after losing Branden Albert.

“They’ve got guys who can make plays to win games: wide receivers, the quarterback, many guys up front, their safeties, their corners,” he said. “It’s hard to pick out a severe weakness in this team; I don’t know if there is one.

“What stands out is how many dynamic players they have. You can see it forming for them. [But] they let the Green Bay game get away and they lost a tough one to Detroit. Those are the kind of situations that determine your year.”

### After being thrown just one pass Sunday, Brian Hartline is on pace for 76 targets --- well below his 127 last season. The NFL’s 18th-most targeted receiver last season, he’s 60th in targets last season. No wonder he’s gone from 23rd in receiving yards last season (1016) to 73rd (269).

Agent Drew Rosenhaus, on his weekly WSVN-7 Fox segment Sunday, good naturedly called for the Dolphins to find ways to maximize Hartline’s talent, as any good agent would.

Hartline said Tuesday he doesn’t want to bring up the issue to coaches: “Coaches can use me as they see fit.”

Hartline sucks and is overpaid.

good stuff about Tannehill and how everyone is noticing easily our best QB after Marino which was so hard to find but now people on this board want another qb already because they fall from everywhere

"Hartline sucks and is overpaid."

Jordy Nelson 2 lol

People say Hartline = Jordy Nelson 2.0

In a way they're right. They just have the decimal point wrong:

He's Jordy Nelson .02

I swear, LD, one of these days I'm going to arrange to have you sent an autographed #82 Hartline jersey. One of these days.

I think they should send him, Hartline, deep. He's done it before and most of the time it went well.

I've never felt Hartline was anything other than mediocre but I actually appreciate him much more after looking at these stats. Having Brandon Marshall on the team obviously must have helped him a lot but there is a pretty stark difference through the QBs as well.

Boldin is interesting. We could have just signed him as a free agent instead of trading for Marshall, and as you can tell he was better statisitcally. Its also interesting to see how his stats vary over all of the different QBs, its pretty obvious which years he played with Kurt Warner.

Roy I think shouright has hacked your account! Mods can you verify this???

Oh and Wallace was a steeler in 2012 aka his "worst" season. Also any ratings system that ever ranked Brian hartline 9th in the league has many, many flaws. Might want to junk it.

DVOA is more of a value per play stat, so per play he was 9th best, but he was a rookie so he didn't play a lot. He was actually 30th overall that year. I didn't include most rookie years because they either didn't qualify or were abnormally bad, but Hartline was very impressive for a rookie. In his 1000 yard seasons Hartline is ranked much higher than his DVOA stats, but as you can see his per play value has been pretty constant.

Yeah, I don't know what happened to Wallace in 2012. Ben was hurt a lot that year, and I think Wallace might have been hurt too.

Do you know what I'm starting to think? That maybe our wide receiver free agent signings were influenced by these stats. We dumped the guy that underperformed. We avoided Jennings, who looked to be in decline. And all the guys we signed have had some very good statistical seasons going into their prime. I looked at Amendola and he was horrible in this stat.

Even Ochocinko and Legadu had some good looking stats.

They had a different offensive coordinator in 2012 and switched to a west coast type of offense.

The ultimate torture mechanism, lol.

You could get any truth out of me with the touch of that jersey. Waterboarding? Nah. Never touch me.

Hartline-jersey-boarding? Burning skin. Screaming.

Anything you want to know, lol.
